About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I really love making deserts but also love trying to find delicious low calorie main dishes to serve my family.
My cooking triumphs
Last year my daughter was wanting a specialized chocolate cake for her birthday. I told her I could make one for her, which would be unusual for our family because we usually just get store bought birthday cakes. I ended up creating what I called a Death by Chocolate Overdose Cake with four different layers of chocolate with a brownie base, a mousse filling topped with a dark chocolate cake and then covered with ganache icing! A chocolate lover's dream and plus all 4 of my kids exclaimed "Wow, mom it's better than a store bought cake!"
My cooking tragedies
When I was about 11 I was making a pumpkin pie for our family Thanksgiving dinner and yet somehow forgot to add in the sugar! Needless to say, it didn't taste too good without the sugar, but fortunetly my great-grandmother, who was a diabetic, enjoyed it!

Alfajores Argentinean Style
My daughter and I made these for a Spanish project she had to do for Argentina. They turned out great and melted in your mouth! We used 3 whole eggs, instead of just the yolks, and the dough was easy to work with and we had no problems with it being crumbly or sandy. Instead of rolling them in coconut, we covered with powdered sugar. Delicious!

Honey Butter
Perfect! Just the right amount of butter and honey. Went really well with my honey cornbread and my kids all gave it a big thumbs up.
