Yummy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2010
My husband is very picky & can taste every spice & he doesn't like 99% of them. This is perfect for him, but I don't put in the steak sauce. This is the only meat loaf he lets me make for him. If I'm hungry for meatloaf I add spices & topping!

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2010
Very creamy & delicious!. I buttered the bottom and sides (no cracks & easy to remove). I used all of the tips that laurelc43 suggested on her review. My water bath though was a pan of water on rack under cheesecake as per another review. (no mess and no foil). Made the Philly oreo cookie crust & topped it with the Chocolate Ganache ( this website) Everyone loved it!

Boston Baked Beans

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2010
My husband , who doesn't like baked beans, said these were the best he ever tasted. I was making them for a luncheon, so I used canned navy beans because I didn't want to take a chance the beans wouldn't soften. Next time I will try them using dry beans. ( more economical) But the flavor was amazing!

Sour Cream Coffee Cake III

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2010
Absolutely delicious! I halved the recipe & baked in an 8" square. Good thing because I ended up eating the whole thing in about 3 days. I'll make it again after I take off a couple of #'s. It almost has a cheesecake flavor especially if you keep it in the frig.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
Best I've ever made! I would cut the 2tsp. cinnamon to 1 tsp. next time. The sugar cinnamon coating also adds the additional cinnamon so 1tsp. in the batter is plenty.

Chocolate Toffee Crunch Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2009
I'm very glad I chose to make this for my Christmas assortment. I didn't have gram crackers so I used ritz. Gives it a nice salty / sweet taste. This is a keeper & so easy -( I did double the brown sugar mixture - I don't know how you get the original amount to cover a 9x 13 size)

Melt - In - Your - Mouth Shortbread

YUMMY! Better after they sit for a couple of days. I just sprinkled with colored sugar while they were cooling. I no longer do cutouts so these are a very tasty replacement.

Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2009
I did try these again except I used red potatoes (peeled) instead of russet. I mixed everything the night before and cooked on low for 4 hrs. the next day. Delicious and easy. Next time I will only add 1/2 the amount of sour cream to please my friends who don't like "sour" as much as I do. The 8oz cream cheese is fine but you could add more(4 oz.) if cuttingamount of sour cream. Creamiest mashed potatoes ever. And it is a plus to serve in slowcooker so they are good & HOT!

Kosher Salt Encrusted Prime Rib Roast

My first prime rib & I got rave reviews from my husband! He's a tough beef critic & he asked for seconds and told me I needed to make it again & again. (I used sea salt)

Good but not spectacular. A recipe I had about 40 yrs. ago was definitely better.

Chewy Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2009
Not very peanut buttery, but pleasant tasting. Next time I will either make chocolate chip cookies or peanut butter cookies. I didn't make them large as suggested by recipe, but rather a normal cookie size. Disappointed.

Applesauce Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
These are definitely a 4 if you bake according to the recipe. The frosting is the only thing that made them sweet enough for my taste. I would not just dust them with powdered sugar. I used a 9x13 pan but doubled the recipe. I anticipate they will have more flavor after sitting a couple of days. The spice flavor is a little weak.

Cheddar Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
I was very disappointed. This dish actually has very little flavor if the recipe is followed as is. I would make again but I would double all of the ingredients except the potatoes & I would use up to 1C of sour cream. I woul also mix all of the ingredients togeter.

Pecan Squares Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
Delicious!! If you do not have a15x10x1pan, do not put the full amount of filling onto a 9x13. Even if you cut back the corn syrup 1C. The center will not get done. I had to throw out about 10 squares. I baked my second batch in 2 8x8 glass pans. I still only used 1c corn syrup. Turned out perfect. Still bake 20-25 minutes.

Cabbage Beef Soup

This is a delicious way to cook cabbage. Very happy with the full bodied flavor. I used stewed tomatoes instead of plain. You could serve this to company.
