About this Cook
I started using this site in 2008, and ever since, I've become the talk of our circle of friends. Some people know me for my brined 28 pound turkeys, others know me for my apple pies with homemade crusts while others know me for my candied pecan salad. All thanks to AllRecipes!! Thanks to all the wonderful people and their amazing recipes!!
My favorite things to cook
I love to try new recipes for just about anything. The things I cook most frequently are: Roasts, Soups, stews and pies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Since starting to cook, my favorite tradition is the nightly dinner with the family (I now have three sons). A close second are Thanksgiving and Christmas lunch. In 2008, when I just started using this site, I cooked Thanksgiving lunch for my family and 2 guests. The positive response from my extended family was so overwhelming, that each year more and more people have joined us. For the 2012 Christmas lunch, I fed 18 from both my wife's and my extended family. It was a beautiful moment that we will always cherish!! Thanks AllRecipes for making this possible!
My cooking triumphs
Last Christmas when I fed 18 family members. I brined and cooked a 28 pound turkey, 6 sides, a candied pecan and pear salad and 2 pies. It was a HUGE undertaking for me so I helped organize the process with a Gantt chart to ensure lunch was ready at noon.
My cooking tragedies
Buying a bread machine - biggest waste of money ever (next to an electric ice cream maker). Bread is best made by hand and you can't top the ice cream from the old school makers.

Grilled Salmon I
This was good but a little too sweet for my taste and diet. I still prefer lemon and pepper seasoning for taste and lower calories.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies
I love making these with my 4 year old, ...almost as much as we love eating them.

Spinach Enchiladas
I started cooking these when my wife was pregnant and the doc told her she needed to each more spinach. I really like this recipe, even though my kids don't... yet.
