About this Cook
I've recently (in the past year or so) discovered that I apparently have inherited my dad's good cooking genes. Everytime I try a new dish, my boyfriend and family raves about it, and after I take a bite I know they are not just "being nice".. I am good! I still have a lot to learn and many many dishes to try - and that's exactly what I am doing. I try new things all the time, and I never follow a recipe exactly - I always find a way to make a dish my own. I used to think I just loved baking, but now that I have discovered my "talent", I learned to love all forms of cooking. My dad is always so proud :)
My favorite things to cook
I LOVE my homemade spaghetti sauce and meatballs. It makes my house smell mouthwatering and I find the process of it kind of soothing. Not to mention I always get kind of excited when I make it for someone who has never had it before! I also like trying new recipes, I get my creative juices flowing because I always twist it into my own version - so I kind of feel like a witch stirring a pot, just adding things as she pleases with a smile on her face. Another favorite thing of mine is taking whatever leftovers I have in the fridge and just totally making something random and delicious out of it (chicken taco macaroni anyone?!)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Potluck Thanksgivings (Dad always fries the turkey, and I am usually assigned deviled eggs, but always bring something else). This year we are going to do a theme Christmas (we will pull a theme out of a hat on Thanksgiving to determine what the new theme will be) and it will also be potluck, so I can't wait to see what I can bring to the chosen theme holiday!
My cooking triumphs
Spaghetti and Meatballs! I will never use jar sauce ever again in my life. I make some awesome chicken and dumplings, and a kick- chicken rice casserole.
My cooking tragedies
Steak on the stove. Never again! When the boyfriend is too lazy to light up the grill, just wait a night - I ruined our favorite pan! And the steak was burnt and ehhh, well, let's just say we didn't finish our plates that night.

I just made this and it is amazing!! I've never made guacamole before so I pulled up this recipe and it was way too easy and the result is DELICIOUS! I am super excited I found this at the beginning of summer!

Restaurant Style Egg Drop Soup
I just made this, with not all the ingredients because I was limited on what I had on hand, but had a craving for the soup! No ginger or chives/onions, and used 3 eggs = results that were good, but not as satisfying as I had hoped. It seems to be lacking "egg" flavor as I am used to in restaurants, and the chicken is the main taste. Next time I may use water and bouillon cubes instead and definitely more eggs. Very easy to make though!!

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs
Easy and DELICIOUS! It was my first time to make homemade sauce and meatballs (because my boyfriend refuses to use store bought sauce) and I couldn't be happier with the result! I made just a few slight modifications to the original recipe: I used half a pound of hamburger and half a pound of Italian sausage for the meatballs, I added about half a teaspoon of oregano to the meatball mixture, and I browned the meatballs in a skillet before putting them in the sauce (I prefer that texture, plus I wanted to drain the grease/fat off also). I started preparing at 11:30am, and once it was done I just let it simmer for hours. Excellent recipe!!
