Real Italian Calzones

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
As mrsdi said no Italian would use cheddar cheese in a recipe instead of Mozzarella. My parents too had a pizzeria, of course they were italian, and ricotta was utmost in our calzones. Fresh, natural and whole only. It was great as was this recipe.

Italian Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2009
My Nana from Calabria brought over a wonderful recipe for cookies that we made at Thanksgiving and stored in bins (looked like the large popcorn bins that are used today)over the holidays. We all had this recipe, I know my twin still uses this but I think the others in my family may have lost the recipe. This is almost the closest to it. We used chopped maraschino cherries, raisins Allspice, citron and 10 eggs in our recipe. They are wonderful. The cookies have always been included in wedding trays and of course on the holidays.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2009
I've been looking for a chocolate peanut butter fudge recipe for awhile. This tastes just like my mom's recipe; she got it from the Hershey's box years ago (I do mean years, like 50). I did add extra peanut butter 1/4 cup, but still not peanut buttery enough. Next time I'll probably put in more. This is so creamy and smooth. I just love it. My hubby said it's the best fudge I've ever made. Didn't have to use a chizel on it (LOL) and didn't have to eat it with a spoon. Thanks Jean for a great recipe. The last time I made fudge was almost 15 years ago. I'll be making this again soon.

Egg Salad III

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2009
I have always made my egg salad with spanish olives (the ones in this recipe). And, I've always used my potato masher to stomp the eggs because I couldn't stand to have big chunks of egg whites. This recipe is good, but I guess it's the same one I've been using forever.

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2009
Whoever Chuck is, this recipe is fabulous. I don't really care for mac and cheese (too orange), but hubby likes it. The catch he doesn't do cottage cheese or sour cream. Told him I was making mac & cheese, he said are you sure?? I said, of course. He went to the store while the elbows were cooking. I put the rest of the ingredients together, mixed well. Tossed in the elbows and put it into the oven by the time he returned. Store is 5 minutes away. He ate it and asked for seconds. HURRAY!!!! Had extra elbows and more cheeses and sour cream so I'll put it together and froze for another day. Thanks again.

Heavenly Hot Dog Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2009
I'm sorry to say that I did not like this recipe at all. Maybe I was remembering the "sauce" that I had as a child, but this was not it. Sorry again. I ususally love the recipes that I make from this site.

Simple Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2009
This was as simple as it's name. I added some garlic an onion powder to the cream cheese; then salt and pepper before adding the top layer of crescent roll. Very good.
