I love to cook. Everyone told me I would get tired of cooking for myself every night really fast, but it's been 7 months since I lived at home and I still cook meals all for myself almost every night. I loved cooking for a family when I lived at home and I love cooking for 1 or 2 now that I'm living alone. My only complaint about it is my boyfriend doesnt like garlic or alfedo sauce, but for the number of times I cook for him it hasnt been a problem so far.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! My favorite things to cook in general are rhubarb crisp, baked fish or blackened salmon, stir fry, dry ribs, soups, and pastas of all kinds.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every christmas my mom's family gets together for supper. Everyone brings something or help cook something there. We do the whole thing: turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, buns, and everybody's personal favorites and special requests. However, the best part is when my mom, grandma, great grandma, and myself all take time in the afternoon and make a huge batch of poppycock. There is nothing better than taffy covered popcorn and nuts!
My cooking triumphs
I was especially proud of my first solo rhubarb crisp. I had just moved out a couple months prior and wanted it really bad and mom wasn't there to make it for me so i called, got the recipe, and totally made the bestest crisp ever (boyfriend certified)!!!
My cooking tragedies
All those nights after watching cooking shows and not knowing exactly what I wanted for supper and experimenting...it has gotten pretty scary...like ordering chinese because my food bombed so bad...
