About this Cook
In my younger days I was a server at few upscale restaurants. I was very interested in cooking and spent a lot of time hanging out in the kitchen when ever I could. The servers made quite a bit more money then the chefs otherwise I might have pursued my cooking interest.
My favorite things to cook
Comfort food is my favorite. I love the smell of the crock pot simmering on a stormy Minnesota day. Cake is another favorite that I make way too often!
My favorite family cooking traditions
There are a few things I can count on in my life. One of them is the chicken sandwiches that my Grandmother made for summer birthday parties. Another is Christmas Eve at my Mother's. Hot roast beef sandwiches, tacos, lasagna, cheese dips, meatballs, crackers, chips, and various cookies and desserts. There is always something for anyone's taste. You never know who may show up even people that you have never met before!
My cooking triumphs
Authentic Mexican food! I can really pull off some wonderful things after living in Arizona for 8 years, even for a girl that is as white as snow! I LOVE hot, spicy food!
My cooking tragedies
My first turkey. I left the bag of giblets in the neck cavity....not in the "main" cavity where the stuffing goes but in under the flap of skin at the top of the neck. No one had ever told me that they put giblets in TWO places in a raw turkey! Who knew!

Italian Wedding Cookies III
Very IMPORTANT! CHILL the dough before making these or you will end up with black bottoms. The amount of butter to flour is the reason. My Grandma made these and her recipe says chill for 1 hr but otherwise the same.

General Tsao's Chicken II
Yummmm....turned out as good if not better than take-out! I will make this again. Oh, I didn't have peanut oil but I didn't miss it in the final dish.

Green Chile Chicken Soup
Really yummy. You will have to thin out any leftovers with a little milk when you re-heat it. I never heard of this soup before but I like green chilis so I thought I would try it. It is very rich but I will be making this again. Next time I think I will add some onion, carrots and potatoes.
