About this Cook
Hey! My name is Kristen. I am approaching the 40 year old mark soon, have 2 great kids, Hayley, who is 12, and Elijah, who is 9. I have been married to my wonderful husband, who was my high school sweetheart, Kenneth for 17 years. I am a southern girl through and through, living all but the last 2 years of my life in North Carolina. My husband is a Pastor, and is currently pastoring a church in upstate New York. Talk about culture shock...
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! I love all aspects of being in the kitchen, but baking is definately my thing. I am a whiz with yeast and making bread and am known as The Cookie Lady by friends and family. Now that we live in New York, I really love cooking our southern favorites to give us that taste of home.

Root Beer Pork Chops
These are awesome! I made them as is with no changes and can't wait to make them again. Even my picky eaters ate them. The looks on their faces were priceless when they discovered the secret was root beer! Thanks Ken for a great recipe!

Peanut Butter Bars IV
These are very simple to put together if you are short on time. A little greasy and not as much of a peanut butter taste as I would prefer. I put peanut butter chips and chocolate chips in the batter and left off the chocolate chips on top. Kids think they are the bomb!

Lemon Sugar Tea Cookies
These are really good! The only thing different I did was to use 1 tsp. of lemon extract and 1 tbsp. lemon juice. Other than that, I followed the recipe. Mine didn't spread out and get super flat like so many said. They are just "normal" cookies! Glazed half with powdered sugar/lemon juice glaze and left the other half with just the sugar. Will definately make again.
