I was adopted, and raised on an Iowan Farm Family. I went to Nurses Training at 18. I worked, and retired from the profession about 3 years ago. I was trained to cook by a professional chef, my father's Great-Aunt. I have always had a deep interest in cooking. I have cooked for hungry farmers, since the age of 15. And, received rave reviews. My real love is baking. I am married, and have 3 children, and 4 1/2 grandchildren. I work for the Cedar Rapids school district, as a substitute in their nutrition program.
My favorite things to cook
Bread, cookies, and country-fried steak.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making kolaches, and clutzens, as well as other Christmas delights.
My cooking triumphs
Receiving a judge's rating when in 4-H that said my Bread was state fair quality, and would win Best of Show. My Brother-in-law asking for my meat flour recipe.(He was somewhat of a gourmet chef, and loved my chicken fried steak.)
My cooking tragedies
Cooking steaks on the grill for company. Burned to cinders. We got to talking, and I totally forgot about them!!! Many others as well.
