Spicy Bratwurst Supper

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2011
I want to try this. I intend on it. However I notice that some reviewers brought the rating down below 5 stars after preparing it in a way other than that specified by directions. Ridiculous. The ingredients sound up to par when compared with the other recipes I have tried. This is next on my list. The morons should NOT be allowed to post if they rate the recipe claiming NOT to have followed the instructions. How can these people live with themselves?

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2010
Wow! I followed the directions with only two changes. First, I doubled the sauce. Second, I didn't have any Swiss cheese on hand, so I substituted raclette. I ended up with one of my favorite chicken dishes of all time. It was amazing. The raclette cheese did add a very special flavor. Superb. Thank you so much. I'm going to make it again tomorrow night. I have to put this on the menu once a month.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
This was my first time making pretzels, and these were great! I want to find a nice sauce to serve them with, but I can't seem to find one that sounds right (description and ingredients have to make me salivate or I won't even bother trying to make it ;) ). I think I will just buy some nacho cheese sauce for the next time I decide to make these. Excellent recipe! Thank you.

Focaccia Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
This was delicious. I did wait to put the cheese on until it was halfway finished baking so that it wouldn't brown too much, but made no other changes. My wife says it tastes just like something that would be served at a very nice restaurant. Great recipe! Thank you.

Chicken Milano

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
This was excellent. Too bad cream sauce never stores well in the refrigerator. If it did, the leftovers would have been great as well. I will definitely make this again. My wife loved it too (as a matter of fact, she's the one who found the recipe and asked me to cook it for her). Thank you.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
Deeeelicious! Unfortunately I didn't have any pecans on hand to throw in the mix, but it was great without them. It tastes exactly how I have always thought banana bread SHOULD taste. Thank you.

Dutch Babies II

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
Perhaps it's just me. This is the first time I have made "Dutch Babies" and, honestly, I have never tried them before. How are they really supposed to look and taste. I read all sorts of descriptions, but different people describe them differently. Anyhow, I followed the directions making no changes whatsoever, and, in the end, it tasted just like an egg custard pie without the crust. I'm not sure if they are really supposed to taste and look that way or not. The one I made was fluffy and pretty when it came out of the oven, but by the time I had sprinkled powdered sugar on it, it had collapsed. Anyhow, I didn't see anything too special about the finished product. I won't say it was good or bad. Consider my opinion relatively "neutral" --no strong feelings in either direction. By all means -- try it at least once and then you will know whether or not it is your "cup of tea"

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
The last time I tried to make spaghetti with meatballs was a total disaster. I was scared to try again, but I saw all of the positive reviews for this recipe and I became inspired. I gave it a shot and it turned out wonderfully. This recipe is the best! Thank you for sharing!

Mom's Country Gravy

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
Other than using bacon grease and throwing some crumbled bacon into the mix, I didn't change a thing. This was more like "grandma's country gravy" for me -- and that is exactly what I was hoping for. I'm positive it is delicious even without the alterations I made (just wanted it to be just like grandma's). Thank you for sharing this little bit of your cooking heritage.

Fluffy Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
WOW! These were amazing!!! I was a little nervous because I've hever made homemade biscuits before, but these turned out PERFECT! --just like grandma's. I served them with a southern gravy recipe (also found on this site) that was also amazing! My wife was crazy for it too. Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe!

River Omelets

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
I served this as a special brunch for my wife on Christmas day. I screwed the recipe up a little... I guess. I like to eat picante sauce on my eggs, and so does my wife. I thought it would be okay to chop up some jalapenos and throw them into the mix. Well, the peppers were not a hit. I thought it tasted pretty good, so I ended up eating most of it myself. Anyhow, I guess you shouldn't mess with perfection. ;) I will definitely try this again, and next time I won't change anything. Otherwise, I really like lots of "stuff" in my eggs (and omelets)--this was great.

Shrimp Chowder

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
My wife hates celery. She also hates clam chowder. Even so, she loved this soup--the celery gave it a slight crunch and the cream cheese really made for a rich base. We both loved it! Thank you!

Grandma's Sweet Slaw

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2009
It is delicious if you like sweetness in slaw. I thought it was delicious for what it is--SWEET slaw. If I didn't care for sweet, I would search for another recipe. The sheer simplicity of this slaw recipe is what attracted me most. Thanks so much to its creator. I would love to publish all of my grandmother's recipes (of course, I will have to get them from my mother first). Her delicious recipes should immortalize her (perhaps you felt the same way about posting this). Grandmas knew how to cook! Perhaps yours, as well as mine, were cooks prior to refrigeration and even preserved foods by themselves--they knew everything about cooking and everything was fresh (of course... I'm referring to my great grandparents). GREAT JOB!!!

Boiled Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
I personally don't like to make alterations to other people's recipes... especially ones that are rated with 5 stars, but I did add a few extra ingredients. Sorry--often annoyed by other reviewers for making so many alterations that it is no longer YOUR recipe. However, your recipe is perfect. I just added some garlic and parsley to suit my tastes. Even without that, it would have been absolutely wonderful. Thank you so much. I searched for this recipe simply because I wasn't sure about the cooking time. Your instructions are immaculate as far as I am concerned. Thanks again.
