Angel Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2010
Excellent! Followed suggestion of 2 cups Whipping Cream with a little powdered sugar and vanilla. Everyone loved it. It really does melt in your mouth. Light and refreshing. We will enjoy this during the warmer months and maybe change it up with orange or lime next time.

Old Fashioned Onion Rings

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2010
Followed the recipe exactly with the exception of doubling for 6 people and using Panko Bread Crumbs. These were better than any Onion Ring I have ever made or purchased anywhere. Honestly, these are perfect in every way...Super Crunchy (Panko)outside, tender inside, perfectly seasoned with Lawry's Season Salt and not greasy at all. All six people were so impressed with this recipe. This is the only way we will make onion rings from this point. Thank you so much for sharing!

Chinese Chicken Fried Rice II

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2010
I have made this dish many times and it is the best Fried Rice recipe I have ever made. It is very close to the local Japanese Steak House fried rice (just add Yum Yum sauce from this site). This time, I had a ton of left over Honey Baked Ham from Easter. I looked at the other Ham Fried Rice recipes and they did not have enough soy sauce in them to stand up to the sweetness of the ham. I decided to go back to the recipe that I know and love...just used ham in place of chicken. I also add a drizzle or two of Sesame Oil. This is a favorite in our house! Thanks for sharing.

The Meatball that Fell Off the Table

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2010
We had a big crowd to feed tonight so I doubled the meatballs (with only a pinch of nutmeg and added a splash of cream) and tripled the sauce. Sauted the onions until tender and set aside. Sauted approx. 12 oz. sliced button mushrooms in small amount of butter in same pan until dry, added a splash of white wine and continued to cook until all liquid evaporated and set the mushrooms aside. Put the soup in the pan and added milk (to desired consistancy)instead of water and added about 1/4 cup of beef stock. Returned the meatballs to the sauce and simmered until the rest of dinner was ready. Served over wide egg noddles with corn and dinner rolls. Everyone loved these meatballs and asked that they be added to the rotation. This is a very easy recipe with exceptional results. Thank you for sharing!

Farfalle Festival

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2010
This is a great recipe! Like another reviewer, I too sliced my chicken thin and cooked it in the bacon drippings, wiped the pan and continued on with the recipe. I also doubled all the cream/sauce ingredients because it was just too thick for us. We usually don't like any store bought Alfredo sauce but used Barilla brand and this turned out so much better than I expected. I will prepare this often. Thanks for sharing.

Simple Beef Pot Roast

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2012
Delicious! Super easy, stress free Sunday dinner. Everyone loved it. Followed the recipe pretty close except increased the servings to 9 (had a 5 pd roast) and used apprx 1 tsp fresh rosemary and 1 tsp fresh thyme. Also added baby new red potatoes and a few fingerlings about 1/2 hour before servings. Perfect. This will be my new go to pot roast recipe. Thanks for sharing!

Quick Cherry Turnovers

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2012
My family loves these!! It just doesn't get any easier than this for a delicious, fast, easy dessert on busy days. I use puff pastry (each defrosted sheet cut into 4 equal pieces) in place of the crescent rolls. Perfect.

Chef John's Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2011
The best mac and cheese I have made in a long time. My family all stated the same. I followed the recipe with the exception of a couple of changes. After reading the reviews, I cut the pasta by a couple of oz and that worked out perfectly. I used fresh thyme, backed the ceyenne down to 1/8 teaspoon (my dad can't have spicey), and was out of dijon so I used about a 1/2 teaspoon of dry mustard. We loved that it was baked but still creamy! Definitely reminds everyone of grandma's mac and cheese. I will use this recipe from this point. Thanks for sharing!

High Five Orange Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2011
I am so happy with this recipe, I don't know where to start! These rolls are absolutely perfect in every way. I followed the recipe and the "Cook's Note" and will never change a thing. We have been on a cinnamon roll kick lately and I have been searching for the perfect dough. THIS is it! So tender, they almost melt in your mouth. The orange flavor in the dough, filling and frosting is spot on. The cream cheese frosting...addictive. This recipe is also very easy and quick. They doubled in 1 hour on the first rise. I was serving these as dessert, so no overnight refrigeration. The dough is so easy to work with, that the rolling and filling took approx. 5 minutes to complete and they were in the pan for the second rise. They doubled in 25 minutes and into the oven they went. Exactly 25 minutes later they were perfectly baked and the wonderful orange aroma was filling the kitchen. We couldn't wait. My aunt and I stole a corner roll and ate it straight from the oven. I knew right there that there is no reason to search any further for the perfect recipe. rae, Thank You for sharing your outstanding High Five Orange Roll recipe. We will enjoy it often.

Country Cinnamon Swirl Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2011
Perfection! The flavors and sweetness is spot-on and reminded us of a cinnamon roll. The texture is wonderful - perfectly moist but not too dense. Followed the recipe with two small changes. I replaced the 1/3 cup of white sugar with light brown sugar in the cinnamon/sugar layer and added the sugar/cinnamon/butter topping that "naples34102" mentioned in her review. That topping is the perfect addition and just adds more wonderful flavor and a little crunch that we loved. My family can't stop eating and talking about this bread. It's addictive! Hubby and I managed to grab the last small piece and hide it to enjoy with our coffee in the morning. This has already been requested as an addition to the upcoming holiday brunch menus. I won't be waiting for the holidays to make this again. Thanks for sharing!

Lorraine's Club Sandwich

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2010
Thanks Lorraine for reminding us that a Sandwich can be a great Saturday Night meal! I was scrambling at the last minute of a very busy day and remembered seeing this pictured on the front page yesterday. Served with Old Fashioned Onion Rings from this site and it was better than any carry out that I could have ordered. Thanks for sharing and the reminder!

Green Pepper Tomato Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2011
We really enjoyed this salad. Love the perfect balance of acid and sweet and texture of the fresh ripe tomatoes and crunchy peppers and celery. I used red, orange/yellow heirloom tomatoes, shallots and a mixture of red/yellow/orange/green peppers to use up some stuff on hand. Very happy to find this quick, easy and simple recipe. Thanks for sharing!

INCREDIBLE~Raspberry Cheesecake Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2011
I knew the second that mis7up posted these cookies and mentioned them on the "buzz" I had to make them. They are absolutely YUMMY! 4 ingredients, 20 minutes and you have a perfect, addictive, "INCREDIBLE~Raspberry Cheesecake Cookie"!! The Raspberry Tidbits (baking chips) are one of the best (new to me) products I have used in a long time. Thank you for finding them and posting it. They have so much flavor and take these cookies to a new level. (I have used the tidbits in the "Simple Scones" recipe from AR also and OMGosh! :) We love the soft texture of these cookies and the Cream Cheese makes them taste straight from the bakery. You would never know that a packaged sugar cookie mix is used. I got 32 cookies out of this and between 5 of us, there are only 18 left (I just made them earlier today!! :) I also ordered the Strawberry Tidbits and can not wait to try these with that flavor. This is an excellent recipe, mis7up. Thank you so much for sharing!!!

Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2011
Needed enough frosting for 12 cupcakes, so I made half of the recipe. I was also looking for a raspberry buttercream so I replaced the milk with approx. 1/2 cup of fresh raspberries. I mixed the butter and raspberries, added the vanilla and then added 1 cup of confectioners' sugar at a time and beat well after each addition until I was happy with the consistency. Worked out great! I will use this recipe often. Thanks for sharing!

Springtime Strawberry Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2011
Made these for the Recipe Group this week. These are very good! The whole family enjoyed them and gave a thumbs-up across the board. I couldn't find my 15x10 pan so went with a 13x9. This worked out perfect and I would hesitate to use the larger pan in the future because it seems that there would not be enough preserves to cover the base. It was the perfect amount using a 13x9. I coarsly chopped the almonds by hand and we really like the slightly crunchy texture. Used the zest from one lemon (didn't measure the 1 teaspoon). The little citrus hit in the dough is really nice. The recipe asks that you mix the dough until it resembles coarse crumbs. My dough never had that crumbly texture. It was more like a soft cookie dough that spread easily in the pan. The bake time in my oven in a 13x9 was about 27 minutes. Quick and easy recipe with great flavor and texture. We will definitely enjoy these again. Thanks for sharing!

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2011
Excellent. We all loved this. Hubby and kids all agreed that this should be made often. We have a large dinner here every Sunday for the entire family and hubs suggested that this be remembered for one of those huge, special meals. That is fine with me, as this is soooo easy and absolutely delicious. I doubled the sauce, used BLSL chicken breasts, 3/4 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup white sugar, rice vinegar instead of cider and grated fresh ginger in place of the ground. Perfect. Thanks for sharing!!

Creamy Lemon Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
We really enjoyed this pie. Perfect tart/sweet combo. Using freshly squeezed lemon juice is a must. I also added the zest from 1/2 lemon. This recipe is also on the Eagle Brand site, with an added layer of raspberries. Very easy (10 oz bag of thawed raspberries and cornstarch; heated until thick and clear and then poured on top of the cooked lemon layer.) Hubby loves raspberries so I added it. I added approx. 1/8 cup sugar to the raspberries. Perfect. We will enjoy this again soon.

Pear Crumb Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
We really enjoyed this pie. Hubby commented several times that he loved that it wasn't overly sweet. Followed the recipe with the exception of throwing in a handful of fresh raspberries that needed to be used up and a little extra cornstarch (my pears were very ripe). I will make this one again. Thanks for sharing!

Soft Pretzels with Mustard

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
"You made these?" That's the question that was asked over and over when we served these. Honestly, one of the easiest things I have ever thrown together in less than 5 minutes and ended up with excellent results. We used Sea Salt on some, kosher salt/toasted sesame seeds/poppy seeds on some and left some plain. I didn't use the mustard dip but did serve them with "Clone of a Pretzel Dip" from this site. Perfect! One of the first things to be finished.

Chewy Brownie Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2011
Excellent Cookie Recipe! I needed a quick and easy dessert this evening and this was the perfect choice. I decided to make these in mini muffin cups and top them with a little marshmallow creme and a drizzle of caramel and chocolate sauces. It worked out great! Mini muffins baked approx. 11 min at 375 in my oven and came out rich and just like a little brownie. Everyone loved them and we will make them again. Thanks for sharing!
