Zucchini Pineapple Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2011
This is our favorite zucchini bread recipe and my family has been using it for years. Great texture (not overly moist), wonderful balance of flavors and textures and bakes up perfect everytime. I shred the zucchini and leave it to drain for a few min in the sink while I get the rest of the ingredients together. Follwed the recipe with the exception of using dried cranberries and almonds (personal pref) in place of the raisins and walnuts. Two loaves disappeared in just a couple of days. We will continue to use this recipe. Thanks for sharing!

Fluffy Raspberry Torte

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2011
We really, really enjoyed this! Hubby said it was in his top 10 favorite :) (he says that about every dessert with fresh raspberries or strawberries). This is a breeze to make, minimal ingredients, delicious with a beautiful presentation. I can't ask for much more. I omitted the pecans. I was pleasantly surprised how light this was and not overly sweet. The fresh berries shine. We love it and I am looking forward to trying it with other fresh fruit. Thanks for sharing!

Scrumptious Frosted Fudgy Brownies

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2011
Decadent, Fudgy, Rich, Super Chocolate Flavor...that's just some of the words and phrases my family used to described these incredible brownies! The best "fudgy" brownie recipe I have ever made or eaten. We love the flavor that the unsweetened chocolate gives these and the texture is wonderful...almost like a truffle. I picked up a couple of packages of the new brownie tattoos and they worked great on these. 7 adults and 3 kids....they are almost gone! I can't wait to make another batch. Thanks for sharing, Celeste!

Grilled Corn on the Cob

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2011
My entire family loves corn prepared this way! The sweet corn with a little salt, pepper and butter is so good. The texture is perfect when grilled. We will enjoy this as often as possible while summer sweet corn is available. Thanks for sharing!

Grilled Potatoes and Onion

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2011
So quick, easy and yummy! Followed the recipe with the exception of adding a few shakes of garlic powder and doubling the recipe for our crowd. Because of the larger amount being grilled, we used an aluminum pan and covered with foil. Cooked in exactly 30 min. Served with Grilled Mushroom Swiss Burgers and Grilled Corn. Excellent meal. Thanks for sharing!

French Watermelon

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2011
Refreshing, fun summer party recipe! We really enjoyed this and all agreed that the alcohol/sugar/mint ratio is perfect. Be careful though, you can not taste the vodka :) This will be a repeat many times before the summer party season is over. Thanks for sharing, Paul.

INCREDIBLE~Raspberry Cheesecake Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2011
I knew the second that mis7up posted these cookies and mentioned them on the "buzz" I had to make them. They are absolutely YUMMY! 4 ingredients, 20 minutes and you have a perfect, addictive, "INCREDIBLE~Raspberry Cheesecake Cookie"!! The Raspberry Tidbits (baking chips) are one of the best (new to me) products I have used in a long time. Thank you for finding them and posting it. They have so much flavor and take these cookies to a new level. (I have used the tidbits in the "Simple Scones" recipe from AR also and OMGosh! :) We love the soft texture of these cookies and the Cream Cheese makes them taste straight from the bakery. You would never know that a packaged sugar cookie mix is used. I got 32 cookies out of this and between 5 of us, there are only 18 left (I just made them earlier today!! :) I also ordered the Strawberry Tidbits and can not wait to try these with that flavor. This is an excellent recipe, mis7up. Thank you so much for sharing!!!

Tangy Poppy Seed Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2011
We love this! I just use whatever fresh fruit I have on hand and it is a perfect light, refreshing addition to any menu. This time, I had fresh pineapple, watermelon, mango, blackberries, strawberries, kiwi and pomegranates. The dressing is a perfect match (omitted the poppy seeds.) We will continue to enjoy this. Thanks for sharing!

Kickin' Turkey Burger with Caramelized Onions and Spicy Sweet Mayo

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2011
Prepared for participation in the Recipe Group this week. Wow! We were pleasantly surprised with this one! This is our first ever Turkey Burger and we were hesitant and really didn't think we would care for the texture. Boy were we wrong! This is absolutely delicious. Excellent flavor, great texture and juicy. We grilled these burgers instead of pan frying and I am so happy that we did. The grill flavor mixed with the steak seasoning, BBQ Sauce, Caramelized Onions and Sweet Mayo is perfection. Jalapeno peppers just don't go over well with my family so I left that out. I also did not have the mesquite flavoring so I followed Saveur631 and used a pinch of chipotle and paprika. I used Montreal Steak Seasoning and Sweet Baby Rays BBQ Sauce. All of this adds such great bold flavor. I mixed everything up about 2 hours before dinner, shaped the burgers and put them in the fridge. The Spicy Sweet Mayo is awesome! I made half the recipe for the mayo (used only 1/4 tsp cayenne) and still have a little left over. I refuse to throw it away - I will definately find something...ANYthing to put this on. It is sooo good and perfect with the burger and carmelized onions. I used 1 & 1/2 very large vidalia onions to carmelize and it was the perfect amount for us. Using only 1/2 onion would not have done it. Hubby and kids can't stop talking about this one so I know it will be a frequent repeat here this summer. Thanks for sharing, Occasional Cooker!!

Real Strawberry Frosting

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2011
Candice, Thank You! This frosting is delicious!! Hubby requested a strawberry (his absolute favorite) cake for Fathers Day. His only requests were that it be very strawberry and not too sweet. I was so happy to see your recipe mentioned on the Buzz. Perfect timing and a perfect frosting for the Strawberry Cake from Scratch from AR. Everyone loved it and hubby declared it must be a Fathers Day tradition. Great fluffy, creamy texture and intense fresh strawberry flavor that isn't overly sweet. I'm sure this will be a repeat before next Fathers Day. Thank you for sharing your recipe and making everyone happy this holiday!

Outrageous Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2011
This is one of the best cookie recipes I have tried from this site so far! Followed the recipe with the exception of adding about 1/8 teaspoon of Cream of Tartar with the dry ingredients (I read somewhere that it helps with the crackled look on top.) I made these a little larger (cooked 14 min in my oven) and ended up with 2 dozen cookies. Slightly crunchy edges, soft centers, great flavors....perfect cookie! I make these every couple of months and will continue. Thanks for sharing!

Bavarian Strawberry Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2011
This was a great ending to our Sunday dinner on this very warm day! Everyone that tried it commented that is was "really good." The consistancy is definately more on the gelatin side than fluffy but no complaints. The fresh strawberry flavor is wonderful. I used a deep dish pie plate and followed CC's review and recommendations for the crust, except used 1 1/2 cups sweeted flaked coconut, 1 1/2 cups crushed vanilla wafers and 6 TBS butter. It worked great. After reading the reviews and wanting more of the "fluffy" texture, I beat the whipping cream very stiff (also added a tiny amount of No Taste Red Coloring Gel at this point to make a pink pie.) It may have made the filling heap a little higher, but not sure if it helped the "fluffy" I was looking for. Still delicious and completely gone, so a success. We will enjoy this again. Thanks for sharing!

Japanese Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2011
Very good cake! Everyone loved the cotton-y, light as a cloud, souffle' texture. The slightly sweet, mild cheesecake flavors were a perfect end to our Japanese themed meal. My cake did not end up with as much height as the one in the photos by the recipe submitter but that is not a recipe problem...that is my fault. I did not beat my egg white long enough, used a springform pan, and my roasting pan used for the water bath was HUGE. The cake still tasted wonderful and everyone thought it was very pretty served with fresh strawberries and kiwi on top. I will definitely be attempting this one again. Thanks for sharing, Eliceya!!!

Amazing 'Pizza' Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2011
Prepared for the Recipe Group this week. We really enjoyed these tender and juicy chops! Followed the recipe, only adding a little Grill Mates seasoning along with the salt and pepper. Hubby threw the chops on a screaming hot grill for just a minute to sear them before putting them in the pan and proceeding with the recipe. We love that you can taste each of fresh flavors from the tomatoes, basil, oregano and mozarella. Taste like Pizza....but also tastes like summer! This will be be a staple during grilling season. Thanks for sharing, CNM!

Baron's Blackberry Cobbler

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2011
We love it!! I have had biscuit type cobblers, cake type cobblers, and pie crust (I know...not really a cobbler but my Mamaw called it that so....to me it was a cobbler) type cobblers. This is almost a mixture of all three! And it is delicious. Hubby took one bite and said, "just like my mom's!" That sealed the deal right there. She was an amazing cook. We loved the amount of berries in this one too... 6 cups! Blackberries aren't really in season here yet, so my berries, although pretty big, where not as sweet as I like. I was worried about the amount of sugar but it was perfect. IF my berries are sweeter next time, I MAY cut the sugar just a tad but with the amount of topping this makes, it was perfect. This is not a dainty or thin cobbler. It is big and thick, which I really love because several others I have tried have been thin. The berry to crust ratio seems just right. The amount of cornstarch called for was spot on as well. Just a really, really good recipe that will be a repeat here many times this summer. Thanks for sharing, Baron!

Ice Cream Sandwich Desserts

Reviewed: May 31, 2011
This was a huge hit and perfect ending to our Memorial Day meal this year. The weather is unusally warm and this dessert really hit the spot with everyone. We purchased a large box (24 count) of Ice Cream Sandwiches and they were a little smaller than usual. I ended up cutting/pasting and using the entire box in a 13x9. I also felt that 12 oz of Cool Whip wasn't enough (would have been a very thin layer in the middle) so I used 2 - 8oz containers - 1 in the middle and 1 on top. That worked out great. We had company and I wasn't sure about including the nuts in the dessert so just left them out and served on the side for those who wanted them sprinkled on top. I also microwaved the fudge topping for just a few seconds to thin it out a little so I could cover the middle layer better and held a small amount back to drizzle over the top with caramel sauce right before serving. I can't believe how easy this was and how much everyone enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing!!

Sesame Chicken Pasta Salad

Reviewed: May 24, 2011
Prepared for the Recipe Group this week. Followed the recipe, except used brown sugar in place of the white, allowing it to sit for several hours with the first half of the dressing and then tried it. Just a little too sharp from the vinegar for our taste. I added a little more brown sugar to the remaining half of dressing and threw in the rest of the ingredients. Hubby and kids tried it and all agreed that it needed an addition of some crunch and a little fresh flavor to break-up the chicken/pasta texture, bold dressing, and brownish color from the soy sauce. We decided on a thinly sliced bell pepper mixture (red/yellow and orange) and followed "bellepepper's" addition of just a few quartered cherry tomatoes. That did the trick. Thanks for sharing!

Pistachio Twists

Reviewed: May 18, 2011
So simple, easy and fast but so good! Great combo of flavors and textures with the flaky puff pastry and crunchy pistachios/kosher salt. The only thing I did different was to just leave the twists the length of the pastry (didn't cut into 3" strips) and leave the nuts chopped a little larger. Simplicity at it's best. Thanks for sharing!

Scrumptious Strawberry Shortcake

Reviewed: May 18, 2011
Absolutely the best shortcake we have tried from this site. Perfect in everyone's opinion. The only change I made was to back down the cream of tartar to about 1/8 teaspoon. Texture reminds me of a very tender shortbread/biscuit combo that is not overly sweet and really lets the fresh berries shine. Still delicious the next day. Cant wait to try it with various fresh berries/fruit this summer. Thanks for sharing!

Raspberry Pain au Chocolat (Raspberry Chocolate Croissants)

Reviewed: May 18, 2011
These little gems were loved by all. I was in a huge hurry and wanted smaller/mini pastries so I just cut along the fold lines in the pastry and then divided each of the three strips into four equal squares. I dropped 1 teaspoon of seedless red raspberry jam and 1/2 teaspoon of nutella near the edge of one of the shorter sides and rolled them up tight. Place them seam side down on parchment and pushed them down a little to make sure they stayed rolled up. These are so fast and easy with yummy results. I will use this recipe often. Thanks for sharing!
