Simple Orange Glaze

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2012
I have used this sooo many times.... and it is perfect. Adjust the sugar or juice to make it as thin or thick as needed. This time I replaced the orange zest and juice with lemon. I have also done lime. Love it! Thanks for sharing!

Hot Italian Sausage and Shrimp with Asiago Grits

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2012
This is very good. Dad can not do spicy so I used Mild Italian Sausage and it worked great. Followed the recipe except for the sausage and everyone commented that they really liked it. The only change I will make next time is to add more cheese to the grits. They lacked just a little in flavor. Overall, a great dinner that we will enjoy again and again.

Simple Beef Pot Roast

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2012
Delicious! Super easy, stress free Sunday dinner. Everyone loved it. Followed the recipe pretty close except increased the servings to 9 (had a 5 pd roast) and used apprx 1 tsp fresh rosemary and 1 tsp fresh thyme. Also added baby new red potatoes and a few fingerlings about 1/2 hour before servings. Perfect. This will be my new go to pot roast recipe. Thanks for sharing!

Mahi Mahi with Coconut Rice and Mango Salsa

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2012
Absolutely Wonderful!!! Followed the recipe with the exception of changing the number of servings to 6 and adding a couple TBS of diced red and orange bell pepper to the finished mango salsa and sprinkling of cilantro before serving. My rice had absorbed all the water in a shorter period of time than listed (approx 12 min) so I added approx. 1/4 cup of water and cooked for a few min before adding the coconut milk and sugar. The rice was delicious as instructed but next time I will add more coconut milk/water and cook a little longer (personal pref). We are already looking forward to adding this to the rotation for our big Sunday dinners and when we have company. Thanks for sharing!

Orange Cream Dessert

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2012
Hubby loves anything "Jello" and I wanted to try something other than plain with fruit. He mentioned that his mom used to make something with ice cream and orange jello that he loved. I did an ingredient search and this popped up. I didn't have the crust so I just made it without and I only had lime or strawberry jello. I chose lime for St. Patrick's Day. Very refreshing! Super fast and easy and it fixed his craving. Looking forward to trying it with other flavors this summer. Thanks for sharing!

Pork Marsala

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2012
Excellent! The pork is fork tender and the sauce is so good! Followed the recipe with the exception of using a little seasoned salt in place of the garlic salt (I am out) and used 3/4 cup Marsala and 1/4 cup chicken stock in place of 1 cup Marsala due to shortage of wine on hand. I won't hesitate to make it exactly like this the next time. For our taste, this amount of wine was perfect. Quick, easy recipe with outstanding results. Thanks for sharing!

Buttermilk Strawberry Shortcake

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2012
We really enjoyed this. Cut the recipe in half for 6 servings and it worked out great. Tender, moist shortcakes with a pleasant crunch from the sanding sugar (did not have turbinado sugar). I will watch the baking time a little closer next time. Delicious at 15 minutes but I will pull them at 13 - 14 min when we have these again. I would also suggest making these close to serving time. The leftovers were not nearly as tender the next day. I am always looking for super fast, easy recipes that taste and present like you have spent more time preparing and this is a great example. Looking forward to trying all types of fresh fruit this spring and summer with this recipe. Thanks for sharing!

Homemade Cream-Filled Sponge Cakes

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2012
I made these for dessert yesterday and hubby is still raving this morning! Seven people ate these and all seven absolutely loved them. Many comments... "the best"... "much, much better than store bought"..."so good...moist, not too sweet and great flavor", etc... I agree with every compliment. They are perfect! Followed the recipe except used a canoe pan and didn't chop the coconut in the processor. Excellent recipe with great instructions. I'm looking forward to making these often. Thanks for sharing, Caroline!

McCormick® Cinnamon Caramel Swirl Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2012
Yum! Everyone loved these! Followed the recipe with the exception of using almonds in place of the pecans (family pref). Great combination of flavors and textures. The best description I can come up with is a gooey snickerdoodle chewy brownie. Really good! Will be a repeat!

Orange Slice Cookies I

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2012
Great recipe! Love the slightly crunchy edges and soft centers. I halved the recipe and it worked perfectly. I sprayed my knife with a little non-stick baking spray and didn't have many issues with chopping the orange slices. I was a little worried that the candy would harden upon cooling or by the next day. I am pleasantly surprised. Just as soft and yummy as yesterday. We will make these again. Thanks for sharing!

Chicken a la Queen

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2012
Lovely recipe and we all enjoyed it. I followed the recipe and my family loved the different textures with the soft biscuits, perfectly cooked vegetables and creamy sauce. This is a very hearty dish. I seasoned with salt and pepper through all the steps and used the full TBS of tarragon. The one comment that was consistent with everyone was that it was a little bland with the minimal seasonings and herbs. I have added this to our "Sunday Dinner" rotation and will tweak it a little with more seasonings. Thanks for sharing!

Almond-Raspberry Meringue Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2012
These are sooo good! A new favorite for my family. Very easy, fast recipe that produced excellent results. I used a can of Solo Raspberry Pastry and Cake Filling in place of the jam and it worked out great. We love coconut but I thought 1/2 cup was going to be too much so I just sprinkled coconut on top until it looked like enough. These won't last long around here and I will be making them again soon. Thanks for sharing!

Quick Cherry Turnovers

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2012
My family loves these!! It just doesn't get any easier than this for a delicious, fast, easy dessert on busy days. I use puff pastry (each defrosted sheet cut into 4 equal pieces) in place of the crescent rolls. Perfect.

K-Dub's Alfredo Ravioli Bake

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2012
Very easy, very rich and very, very good!! We really enjoyed this. I had a couple of packages of the refrigerated chicken and cheese ravioli and approx. 1/2 of a container of the alfredo sauce that is sold with the pasta. I added that alfredo to a jar of mushroom alfredo from the pantry and it was perfect. Using the 2 packages of pasta, the top layer was 1 or 2 ravioli short but it wasn't noticed. I sauted some onion and a little garlic with the chicken, seasoned well and backed the Italian seasoning down to 1 TBS. Perfect for our taste and received many compliments. Thanks for sharing, K-Dub! We will enjoy this often.

Macaroni and Cheese Recipe : Giada De Laurentiis : Food Network

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2012
I have been making this for a couple of years when we have left-over ham from a holiday and it is always very well received. Great combo of the 3 cheeses. I do make a couple of changes... use 16 oz of extra wide egg noodles (up from 12 oz); use 2 TBS of A/P Flour (up from 2 tsp); use 7 - 8 oz of left-over ham (up from 4 oz); and increase the amount of mozarella to approx 1 cup. **Note** - Don't forget or skip this step - allow this to sit for approx 15 - 20 minutes after you remove it from the oven. It will be the perfect consistency and not too thin. A family favorite that we will continue to enjoy!

Candy Cane Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
Not what I expected... Not really a "fudge" texture or consistency. After reading the reviews, I noticed that one member described the texture as "fondant" like. This is a very good description. The taste is okay, maybe a little more extract? I enjoyed trying a new recipe. Thanks for sharing.

Chef John's Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2011
The best mac and cheese I have made in a long time. My family all stated the same. I followed the recipe with the exception of a couple of changes. After reading the reviews, I cut the pasta by a couple of oz and that worked out perfectly. I used fresh thyme, backed the ceyenne down to 1/8 teaspoon (my dad can't have spicey), and was out of dijon so I used about a 1/2 teaspoon of dry mustard. We loved that it was baked but still creamy! Definitely reminds everyone of grandma's mac and cheese. I will use this recipe from this point. Thanks for sharing!

SMUCKER'S® Praline Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2011
These are excellent. Everyone loves them! Followed the recipe, using the Hot Caramel Ice Cream Topping in place of the Spoonable and it worked out great. The caramel was thinner than the spoonable and baked down into the bars so I added a small amount to the tops before serving. The crust amount and texture is a perfect pair to the creamy filling with a little crunch from the brickle chips. This is going to be a great addition to my holiday baking this year!!

High Five Orange Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2011
I am so happy with this recipe, I don't know where to start! These rolls are absolutely perfect in every way. I followed the recipe and the "Cook's Note" and will never change a thing. We have been on a cinnamon roll kick lately and I have been searching for the perfect dough. THIS is it! So tender, they almost melt in your mouth. The orange flavor in the dough, filling and frosting is spot on. The cream cheese frosting...addictive. This recipe is also very easy and quick. They doubled in 1 hour on the first rise. I was serving these as dessert, so no overnight refrigeration. The dough is so easy to work with, that the rolling and filling took approx. 5 minutes to complete and they were in the pan for the second rise. They doubled in 25 minutes and into the oven they went. Exactly 25 minutes later they were perfectly baked and the wonderful orange aroma was filling the kitchen. We couldn't wait. My aunt and I stole a corner roll and ate it straight from the oven. I knew right there that there is no reason to search any further for the perfect recipe. rae, Thank You for sharing your outstanding High Five Orange Roll recipe. We will enjoy it often.
