Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2010
Made these for a party, and they were gone in 10 minutes! I used toothpicks on each individually and left them on when served. That way people could easily grab them. It's not much clean up if you line your sheet with aluminum foil. Definitely will make this recipe again :)

Spicy Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2010
These were great cookies! I adjusted somethings for my taste. I used 1 cup of wheat flour and 1/2 cup white, and I used 1/2 brown and 1/2 white sugar. I also doubled the spices, egg, and banana. I felt the dough would need extra moisture b/c of the wheat flour. In half of the cookies I added about 1/2 cup of raisins. Walnuts (If I had some) would have been awesome too. These are going to be a great breakfast cookie. I'm also wondering how it would be with carrot puree added. May try that next.

Maple Mustard Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2010
This was really good. I used chicken thighs and baked at 375 for about 45 minutes. (It's cold outside) Will definitely make again, but I might add a little more mustard.

Favorite French Dressing

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2010
This is some serious salad dressing! We liked it, but I would be scared to give it to guests because it has some major kick.

Simple Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2010
Good! I halved the recipe and used one loaf pan. Also used my bread machine to make the dough and finished in the oven. I just add liquid, yeast, and honey to proof, and then added butter and lastly dry. Came out great! Next time might try 1/2 milk and 1/2 water. Thanks!

Banana Pancakes I

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2010
These were great and so easy! My one year old cleared her tray! And my husband ate it! (He hates pancakes) I sprinkled some chocolate chips on while they were cooking. Yummy! Next time I might not add the sugar and use part wheat flour. Make it a little healthier :)

Sweet and Sassy Hash Browns

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2009
Even though I reduced the heat to medium when leaving it to sit, it began to burn after a minute. I can't imagine what would be left after 5 minutes on medium high heat. Also way too much sugar!!! I think this could have potential to be good, but as is - !

Very very good :) but a pain to take out of the pan. I'll try parchment paper next time.

Pork Chops and Sauerkraut

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
We liked this. I seasoned the chops with s&p and then coated with mustard before I browned. Also added some beer to it for extra moisture and flavor. Very juicy and yummy.

Tasty Collard Greens

Best collards ever! I used a ham hock instead of the turkey leg. Husband actually eats these, and he normally hates collards. Thanks for the recipe!

Bacon-Balsamic Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
We loved these. Husband said they were the best deviled eggs he has ever eaten. That means a lot because deviled eggs are probably one of his favorite foods. One suggestion I have is to grate the onion instead of mincing. Makes it much easier, and you don't have to worry about accidentally biting into a too large chunk of onion. Thanks for the recipe!!! Something extra: Today I turned this recipe into egg salad because my husband had bought some baconnaise and these eggs popped into my mind. Super good! Just added about a tablespoon of dijon to it.

Sorta Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2009
Very tender! It reminded me of my mom's cube steak, but this was much simpler. Mom does it on the stove top and cooks for about an hour instead of two. I felt that the seasoning would be lacking so I added salt and pepper to the steak and seasoned the flour with salt pepper and about 1/2 ts of garlic powder. Also included mushroom when I added the onion. We enjoyed the gravy with rice.

Brigid's Blackberry Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2009
Everyone raved! Best pie ever. Perfect consistency. People kept asking how I got a berry pie to not be runny. Will use this recipe again. I was worried about it coming out too sweet so I only used only 1/2 a cup of sugar. It was perfect! I also used frozen berries because it's November, but I can't wait for summer when I can use fresh. I also ended up having to crank up the oven to 350 after first hour to brown the crust. It ended up baking to close to 2 hours before it was perfect. Brushed the crust with an egg yolk and one TB of water and then sprinkled with sugar. So delicious. Thanks for the recipe

Wine Soaked Mushrooms

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2009
I made these tonight, but only cooked them for 30 minutes with about 1/4 cup of wine and 1/4 cup of broth. They were still awesome, but I don't really see the need for 2 hours and as much ingredient called for for a side dish. Loved the flavors though.
