Mom's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2010
Delicious! I accidentally only used half a stick of butter and they still came out super tasty. Probably a bit flatter than if I had used the full cup, but it still worked!

Sour Cream Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2010
So simple and so delicious! I made this for a get together with friends and family and I had more than one person comment on how yummy the cake was and go back for seconds. I used a cream cheese frosting that really complimented the flavor of the cake, but didn't over power it. I really like how not extra sweet this cake is. I will be making this one again!

Banana Oatmeal Cookie

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2010
SO GOOD! I used a half a cup of butter in place of the shortening due to me finding out there wasn't enough to use. I also used chocolate chips instead of the nuts, and it was delightful! Thanks for the wonderful recipe :)

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2010
This was AMAZING! I had a roast that to say the least wasn't that appetizing prior to being cooked. I ended up putting in the crock pot for about 12 hours and by the time I took it out, it was falling apart, moist and tender. This was my first attempt at a roast as well and I must say it was delicious!!! Prior to cooking it, I added a little salt and pepper to it and seared it. I also took the advice of another reviewer to use beef broth in place of the water. I used a half the salt broth, and only half of one packet of onion soup mix ( the roast was probably 3 ish pounds). At about 9 hours I added some potatoes, carrots and celery which didn't distract from the flavor at all. I will definetly be making this one again. SO easy and so good! Thanks for the great recipe!

Applesauce Custard Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2010
This was SO good! I read the other reviews prior to making this and ended up making the pie the next day and forgot to cut the sugar in half. It was fairly sweet, but still really good. You get the custard flavor followed by the tang of the applesauce which was delightful! Next time I make this ( which there will be a next time) I plan on cutting the sugar in half if I use an applesauce with sugar in it already. I would also suggest covering the crust of the pie. The sugar crystallized and burnt on the outside of the crust. Other than that, this is delish!

Salsa Chicken Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2010
This was yummy! I made it for my boyfriend and his mom who both loved it and went back for seconds. Before cooking the chicken, my boyfriend rubbed it down with a Cajun spice mix and brushed it was a Mexican hot sauce. This added a little extra zip, but not so much that it was over powering. I also used brown rice in place of the white, giving it a little extra nutritional value. All and all, this was really easy and very good. I will be making it again!

Braised Balsamic Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2010
Yummy! I didn't have any canned tomatoes but I did have three fresh romas in my fridge, so I cut those up and used them in place of the canned. It was quite tangy which I really liked, as did my boyfriend. This was way easy to make and I will make again.

Banana Frittata

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2010
So easy! And so good! I made it for brunch, and didn't eat the whole thing. When I got home from work, I grabbed the last piece and ate it cold. After it had sat for those few hours, the tastes settled and mingled a little more and it was even better! I did add a little vanilla and a little cinnamon too, which made a nice little addition. I will be making this again soon!

Yummy! I added a little nutmeg and vanilla to the glaze sauce, but will probably add a little more next time to get a better flavor.

French Beef Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2010
This stew was great but not at all what I expected. I had thoughts prior to making it that the Italian style tomatoes may take over the taste due to there being two cans of them in it. I was right. I couldn't taste the Dijon at all, even though I put the two tablespoons it called for and was expecting it to be over powering from various other reviews that have made this. I also added mushrooms, carrots, celery and potatoes to make it a little bit hardier. All and all, it was really good and got great reviews from my boyfriend.

Avocado Chicken Wraps

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2010
This was a good base recipe. After reading the other reviews, I decided to cut up my chicken and fry it with three cloves of garlic. My boyfriend then added salt, pepper, and a little red pepper for flavoring. When that was done cooking, I mashed the avocado up with the chicken and added the salsa. It was really yummy and we both enjoyed it. I added a little fresh tomato to mine as well as some lettuce. All and all this was a really quick and easy recipe to make. I will make it again.

Ugly Duckling Cake I

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2010
Delish! If you are having a sweet tooth, this will squelch it pretty dang fast. Super easy and super fast to make! I will make this one again! I think next time I may cut down on the frosting a bit. I had some left over, even with the cake covered and I didn't want to overdo it with the sugar.

Broccoli with Garlic Butter and Cashews

Soooo tasty! I didn't have any cashews but the broccoli with just the garlic butter was plenty for me. VERY flavorful and a good change from broccoli with cheese or plain! I will be making this one again!

Avocado Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
This pie was quite tasty. My boyfriend and I made it with a homemade regular pie crust which work fairly well. We also used lime juice in place of the lemon, and I think next time we make it that we will cut down on the citrus juice, I felt that there was to much in it and over powered the subtle avocado. I also want to try it with the actual graham cracker crust, I think it would a nice little sweetness to it!

Polvorones de Canele (Cinnamon Cookies)

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
These were great and super easy to make! I work in an after school program and thought this would be an easy, quick recipe for my kids to make. They really enjoyed making them and enjoyed eating them even more. I snagged one before they were gone and they were very tasty, not overly sweet at all. The only thing is we had a lot of extra sugar / cinnamon mix left over after we dipped all of our cookies, I think halfing it would work best.
