I soooo love cooking for my family and friends alike. The meals I prepare are hugs to people in my life. Especially my little grandkids because I remember how my own grandmother's cooking impacted my philosophy on the importance of a good meal and the time, thought, and love that goes into the preparation.
My favorite things to cook
Mediterranean and vegetarian are at the top of the list, but not limited to the two. A good Middle Eastern friend of mine taught me how to make a killer falafel and the hummus base for an out of this world dish of ribbon worthy proportions. I also enjoy preparing a traditional Mexican meal that includes the special spices my grandmother used in her kitchen.
My favorite family cooking traditions
A weekend breakfast is a wonderful tradition which usually includes soy chorizo mixed in with scrambled eggs and or in diced potatoes. Not to be eaten without corn tortillas and maybe a little side of pintos or black beans for a bit extra protein for an active day. MMmmm!
My cooking triumphs
I'm known for my tasty salsas that I was inspired to create by my beloved Grama Hope. Give me a chile pepper and a few spices and prepare to have your taste buds explode with pleasure and excitement!
My cooking tragedies
Fresh and simple is always at the core of my cooking style. While it is usually assumed that a lot of time and effort goes into a great tasting dish, it usually is quite the contrary. Also using quality ingredients and well built kitchen tools, like a good sharp knife and sturdy cooking utensils.
