About this Cook
I love to look in a pantry/freezer and come up with something different. I love to experiment. My 16 year old twin boys love when I experiment. They know something different is coming and they are honest with me.
My favorite things to cook
cookies, quick breads, candies, along with the usual meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas baskets for all the neighbors and co-workers. Sunday morning breakfast with the family.
My cooking triumphs
The fact that I can cook anything that I put my mind to. I love a challenge.
My cooking tragedies
Burned brownies due to lack of attention just before a housefull of friends showed up... what a smell!! Oh yeah, the friends, from my Homemaker's club!

Cajun Style Baked Sweet Potato
Awesome!! I cooked mine at 450... It's hard to get crispy sweet potatoes in the oven.. I had and added ground chipotle as well... Awesome!!

Grandma VanDoren's White Bread
Okay.. I studied the reviews, but with any thing, it could be the environment, the person cooking, the oven, the ingredients...but I gave it a try anyway. All I can say is.. WONDERFUL!! I have been looking for a great bread recipe.. I have saved a few in my recipe box here, printed many from other websites, well I believe that I found my recipe! I just learned how to make homemade buttermilk biscuits and now yeast bread. This made 3 loaves of bread.. I shared one with my neighbor, we had one for dinner and I have one to munch on tomorrow.. it won't last the week! Thanks for sharing!!
