Just Me!
About this Cook
My name is Heidi and I live with my husband in Wayne County, OH. We have been married since May 2009 and are licensed therapeutic foster parents. I also work part time at Gamestop. My biggest hobbies are reading, playing video games, drawing, and being outdoors. Oh, and cooking! I have tried just about every dietary style - no-fat, low-calorie, "primal", no sugar, no carb, etc. Now I just eat smaller portions and call it a day!
My favorite things to cook
I love making sweets! But I try to make everything as healthy as possible. I try to take recipes and convert them into a low sugar/low calorie version without sacrificing taste.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I really only cook new/interesting recipes on holidays. We have foster children (four kids right now), and I can't really afford to cook extensive recipes for six people most occasions.
My cooking triumphs
My most fun and successful recipe has been "Otik's Spiced Potatoes" from the Dragonlance series of novels. It was one of my first attempts at cooking as a teenager and my now husband loved it!
My cooking tragedies
Roasting a Tofurky for Thanksgiving 2007. The aluminum pan I had it in gave way from the weight of it and the potatoes and carrots and the Tofurky fell into the oven about halfway through cooking when I took it out to baste. My heroic boyfriend grabbed it out and salvaged it. It turned out fine actually, but it was not fun to see it floundering there on the heat! And I lost a lot of baste.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie
The most amazing cookie I have ever made! Tons of chocolate, perfectly moist... I made them for Christmas and they were gone so fast. Ill be making them again today for a blood drive and I can't wait to see others enjoy them! Thanks for a fantastic recipe!

Ultimate Maple Snickerdoodles
Tasty! I also ended up using sugar & cinnamon instead of maple sugar. I was disappointed that I couldn't track down maple sugar in time for the holidays. But, these still turned out wonderful. Thank you for sharing!

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies
These turned out so yummy! The only reason I give it 4 rather than 5 stars is because I was not prepared for how much the cookies were going to crack when I put in the peanut butter cup - however, this was quickly remedied by just letting them sit in the fridge for a bit. In fact, I think they taste even better chilled! I used a dark Reese's cup and it was fantastic! Easy recipe to make, highly recommended!
