Soft Sandwich Buns (Dough Hook Mixer Version)

These turned out nicely. I like the taste, the size, and the texture. I think I even messed up a little on the rise, so I can't wait to make them again! These are now our daily sandwich breads (I vowed to not buy store bread again)

Very sweet, very good. So chocolaty - using both chips and powder is great. I made the batter into 48 mini muffins. I like crust.

Homemade Fresh Cheese

This worked out great, though I didn't realize how long it would take for the milk to heat. I will read through reviews to see if a higher, faster heat would have been more efficient? With a medium heat it still scorched a little on the bottom, but nothing I couldn't remove (I stirred a LOT). I did not need cheese cloth, using a fine mesh strainer instead. I added pink salt after the cheese had drained, before forming it.

Peppy's Pita Bread

Not very flavorful, but guess what? Pita isn't. Incredibly easy to make - I whip them up quickly to use for kid's lunch. We do semi-homemade "lunchables" instead of buying that they call pizza. Much better to give my son real food!

Grill Dough

Finally, I can make bread! For pizza, grilling for a few minutes each side before adding toppings helps the dough cook through without burning. Excellent! Good texture, too. I'm going to try a sweeter version for a breakfast bread next time.

Hot Bacon Dressing

This is WAY too sweet. Lost the taste of bacon and any tangy notes. I would cut sugar to 1/4 cup next time and use apple cider vinegar.

Acorn Squash Soup

Chocolate Banana Bread

I'm a dummy and this is me-proof! I had to switch the margarine for equal amount veg oil. I didn't add the chocolate chips because (a) didn't have any, and (b) didn't want it too sweet, anyway. The result was outstanding and I plan to make this every single time our bananas go too long. Which is often.

Apple Crisp II

Even I was able to make a successful crisp, and my family and I love it. I also doubled the topping (used another 1/4cup applesauce instead of butter) and cut the white sugar in half (still a little sweet for me). I think I'll try more cinammon next time. Delicious either way.

Chocolate Chip Muffins

Easy, fast, delicious. The outside was a little crispy, more like a biscuit, but I loved it like that. Dough seemed more like dough, less like batter - more milk next time? I took the advice of one reviewer and added just under 1/4 cup sour cream - very moist but not doughy or gooey. I also added 1 1/2 Tblspn orange zest - gave it another dimension. Can't wait for my 4yr son to wake up and give his review!

My 4yr son would not go to bed without having a slice - I thought the nuttiness of the molasses would be unappealing to him, but he loved it. Great with cream cheese in the morning.

Sweet Potato Gnocchi

I cut this in half and had so many I think it could serve 3-4! Delicious. Popped them directly into saute pan from boiling water, got some texture with butter (sub - Brummel), pine nuts and sage. So fast, would make a great on the spot appetizer for guests, too.
