Chocolate Truffle Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2014
Just a suggestion for bakers having a difficult time with spreading......never put your cookies on an already hot cookie sheet. This allows the fat in the recipe to have started to melt before it is put into the oven with the resulten spread in your baked cookie. Chilling too long is always better than not chilling long enough for ease in handling and perfect results.

Stuffed Zucchini

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2013
I have made this recipe and it was loved by all! I had one large zucchini from my garden and it was perfect for stuffing! After reading a number of the reviews I precooked the zucchini in the microwave for 3 min., then removed the seeds to use in the filling. As others had suggested and since I was using only half of the zucchini, I used only 1/2 C of Italian breadcrumbs, added some basil as well as the garlic and followed the rest of the recipe as written. It was really simple and easy to make.....I forgot that I used lean ground beef as well because that is what I had. My husband enjoyed this immensely and he is not always but sometimes a "picky" eater! Thanks so much for this recipe.

Slow Cooker Spare Ribs

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2012
I always peruse all the reviews before I make or keep a recipe and this was disappointing. I have been using the same recipe for over 50 yrs so perhaps our systems got a jolt. My husband didn't care for it either but this doesn't mean it isn't agreeable with someone else's taste buds. On another note I really object to those people who grade a recipe depending on whether it is heart healthy or just plain healthy. If they are so conscious of this fact they should ignore the recipe period or have the expertise to do the conversions to make it heart healthy! I'm sure that most would agree. Even the most health conscious of us all tend to slip for special occasions or seasonal events! Merry Christmas.

You always have to mix the choc and sugar together and add the milk slowly. Good luck.

Pretty Chicken Marinade

Reviewed: May 27, 2012
This is an excellent recipe. Substituted dijon mustard for the mustard called for as I couldn't find the other. Served to guests and eaten with raves. Served with the spinach pasta salad from this site as well as my own tried and true baked asparagus (drizzled with oo and sprinkled with parmesan cheese and baked at 400 for 20 min). Made for a very successful entertaining evening. Thanks so much for sharing.

Cranberry Orange Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2012
I don't think that I reviewed this recipe when I made it but am about to make it to be served as part of refreshments at a conference. Could not think of any better bread to make. Was easy and very delicious. Will use many times. Should add; made as directed. Thanks for the submission.

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2012
Hate it when people review when they haven't used the recipe but this is just a tip....I make several different biscuit recipes and a trick is to shake your baking powder before measuring and always measure "heaping" instead of the normal leveling off! This is an old trick. Also the reviewers who indicated you should handle sparingly are correct as over handling will toughen any biscuit/pastry dough. When my children were small and my mother wanted to know what to bake them for an upcoming visit it was ALWAYS her teabisuits. Good luck....can be mixed up quickly to dress up any meal.

Chicken Honey Nut Stir Fry

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2012
This was an excellent recipe. Did add the garlic and sesame oil and increased the veggies as suggested by some reviewers . My husband can be picky at times when trying out new recipes and he enjoyed this dish with no complaints. Will definitely use again and thanks for the submission. There are actually few chicken recipes that I have used from this site that I don't use again and again. Most are fast and not a lot of work and the results tasty!

Jif® Peanut Butter Blossoms

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2011
Just made these! They turned out excellent. I doubled the recipe as I wasn't going to all that trouble for just a few. I increased the peanut butter as suggested and because it was a soft peanut butter I decreased the milk by one tbsp. I also did some in the mini muffin tins and some on cookie sheets and they all turned out well...8 min, then the kisses and back in the oven for another 2 min. They have a nice flavour and I will certainly do again. For those in Canada, confectioners sugar is icing sugar and if you don't have a Bulk Barn near you "fine sugar" can be made by putting granulated sugar in your food processor for a spin. Thanks for sharing.

White Chocolate Macadamia Cranberry Dreams

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2011
OMG these were terrific. Thought that I might have to do CPR on my husband though after sending him for the macadamia nuts! He said that he sure hoped that these weren't for any cookie exchange!! They weren't!

Rhubarb Crunch

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2011
I've not made this recipe and I generally don't like those who rate without the work....but I'm just making a comment in general. I usually never add more than 3/4 C sugar to a fruit recipe and I use cornstarch instead of flour. In a crumble don't forget that you already have sugar in your topping and that ups your sweetness as well. Rhubard is meant to be somewhat tart but everyone to their own taste.

Chicken with Quinoa and Veggies

This dish was absolutely wonderful! I am new to quinoa and both my husband and I really enjoyed this dish. We eat a lot of chicken and I'm always looking for varied ways of preparing it. Will definitely do this again, and again.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies II

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2010
This may be my fault, but is the first rcipe I have used from this site with good reviews that did not turn out. Have been making cookies for over fifty years and have not had a failure like this one and I doubled the recipe as grandkids are home from university this weekend and are looking for goodies to take back with them. I have substituted margarine for butter in all my recipe except for some Christmas baking and never had a problem; I did use regular pb but others did too. The dough was absolutely too fat!!! I will use for my husband and I but no way would I send these out of the house! Flavour was OK but oil oozed out of them on the pan:( I did increase the flour a little bit before baking when I saw what was happening....also chilled for 1/2 hr. For those who have problems with cookie dough spreading on the pan make sure that your pan is completely cooled before setting another batch of cookie on it to bake! Also real cookie sheets should not have sides on more than one side to allow for the proper circulation of air.

Jalapeno Jelly

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
After printing this recipe last year I finally made it! Wonderful. I added a couple of drops of green food coloring but don't know that you need this. I had double the jalapenos so I doubled the inital part of the recipe, ending upwith enough juice to make triple the amount of jelly. Hadn't made jelly in several years so was unfamiliar with the new packaging for certo but one envelope jelled each batch beautifully! Drfinitely a do again recipe.
