Better even then I expected! Store bought have always turned me off (way too sweet with scary ingredients), but this was perfect. All the pecan pie lovers in my family say this is their absolute favorite.

Black Magic Cake

LOVED this cake. This will be my go-to chocolate cake recipe from now on. Be careful to not open the oven before it has finished baking. Topped each slice with heavy whipped cream and maraschino cherries!

Best Brownies

This is my first time trying to make brownies from scratch. These turned out great. Next time I will definitely double the recipe and perhaps add a bit of "cheesecake" swirled on top.

Bread Pudding II

Broccoli Rice Casserole

Used this as a great base for a broccoli casserole, then added chicken, used mozzarella instead, and added sauted onions. Pretty different, but really appreciated the general recipe. Thanks!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Love this potato soup! Simple. Fast. I leave the potato skins on for flavor and texture. It doesn't require heavy cream, which is great. Topped with chives, bits of bacon, sour cream, and cheddar and its good enough for company!

Potato Salmon Patties

These were great and will added to my regularly rotated salmon recipes. Added another egg and one small mashed potato (instead of flakes) and a touch of Worcestershire sauce. Delicious!

Amish White Bread

Chicken and Broccoli Alfredo

This is SO easy and quick! I agree with adding sour cream to kick it up a notch, while decreasing chicken and increasing the broccoli. Easy and versatile. UPDATE: Okay, I made it restaurant style with 1/2 bar of cream cheese, replaced the milk with half n' half, and folded in 1 cup of fresh grated mozzarella and parmesan right before serving. Wow. Got rave reviews. Tastes just as good as a restaurant, but at 1/5 the price! Don't forget garlic bread to finish it off. =)

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

This was great. It is a lighter pumpkin bread and not oily and heavy. I love the fact that it is not overly sweet and it's lovely with a lightly sweetened cream cheese icing. Yum!

Banana Crumb Muffins

These were pretty good, but mine came out a bit dry. Perhaps next time I will use more bananas. The topping is delicious! Will try this again. UPDATE: I must have over stirred, because I've made them a couple times since and LOVE them!

Grandma's Corn Pudding

This will be a standard recipe in my personal cookbook from this point on and it a VERY cheap dish for large groups that is always well received. The only thing I do differently is just use flour instead of cornstarch and use all whole kernel corn. Make sure not to overbake it!

Spinach Dip with Water Chestnuts

The bowl was scrapped clean! I made this for a big family meal and people could not keep their hands off of it. I did double the amount of spinach, as suggested by other reviews, and it was perfect. Very easy and a great appetizer that can be made the day before!

Cream Cheese Tart Shells

This turned out great filled with quiche and I am planning on using it with a custard pie as well. Just make sure to spread it thin enough when putting it in a pie pan so it can bake properly. Very good and easy. Will use this on a regular basis.

Crustless Spinach Quiche

This recipe was a huge success. I doubled the recipe and did one pie pan "crustless" and poured the other half in a "Cream Cheese Tart Shell" (pre-baked) topped with a bit of cheese and cooked country sausage. People were scrapping their plates clean and asking for the recipe. Will definitely be making this regularly for breakfast/brunch with company!!
