Macaroni and Cheese V

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2010
I was very excited to make this and serve it to my in-laws. It turned out very dry because my pasta soaked up all the cheese. It tasted just OK, but I was embarrassed to serve it to my guests. My mother-in-law at least helped me save the leftovers by adding ham broth (left from my main dish) to moisten it.

Whipped Maple PHILLY Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2009
I think this simple recipe is a good starting point, but as is, it was disappointing. I added another 1/4 cup maple syrup and 1 cup of powdered sugar to sweeten it, and served it over miniature spice bundt cakes.

Orange Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2009
I made this in a smaller proportion for a chicken. It was a hit with my in-laws, and they asked for the recipe. I left it in the brine for 24 hours, and I basted the chicken with butter while it was roasting. It didn't have a strong orange flavor, but just enough flavor to make it interesting to the taste buds.

Slow Cooker London Broil

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2009
This is a strange recipe, but we really enjoy it and I have added it to my dinner rotation. It's so EASY. It does taste great, and I serve it with mashed potatoes. (Sometimes I skip the onion soup.) The only thing that makes it a 4 instead of a 5 is it's appearance. It's not very appealing looking so I would not serve it to guests. I do, however, give out the recipe for friends to try at home.

Children's Gingerbread House

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2009
Overall, this is a good recipe. I've used this recipe 2 years in a row, but I'm not totally satisfied with it. I always omit the baking soda/powder to prevent the pieces from expanding and changing shapes. I still get some bubbling though. I'm still on the lookout for a better, more structurely sound recipe to build the large detailed "houses" that my husband and I have made a tradition in our home. I have never followed these directions for the house, so I cannot comment on them. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
