Mexican Quinoa

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2014
I Loved this recipe, and it could be used as a main dish or side...here's how. I sauteed, several small sweet peppers along with a red onion, added the quinoa to toast it. After a few minutes a added a full cup of salsa (didn't have the Rotel), also didn't have the taco seasoning, but used 2tsp. of cumin...cook as directed. Once it was done, I topped with a large amount of fresh cilantro, and diced green onions. It's great as a side dish this way...if you want a main dish, add a protein (chicken and black beans or?), top with melted cheese, or add it all together in a burrito. It's also great with diced avocado/sour cream on top. Thanks so much for this recipe, I made a huge batch!

Black Bean and Salsa Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2012
I used homemade black beans instead of the canned ones, and used the liquid from the beans rather than the broth. Topped with a few slices of avocado, sprinkle of cheese, and a teaspoon of sour cream. Came out PERFECT! Thank you so much for this quick and easy to use recipe.

Creamy Potato Leek Soup II

This soup was great. I used canned milk (what I had available) and yellow and red potatoes. I don't think it could have been better. Thanks for the recipe!

Sarah's Salsa

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2011
I made this as a way to use up some canned tomatoes that had been in my cupboard for some time. I was pleasantly surprised, this recipe is excellent!! The only thing I did different was add some sliced green onions for a little more color. I will use this recipe again, without doubt. Thanks!

High Temperature Eye-of-Round Roast

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2011
I had never cooked this cut of beef, when I found two large roasts on sale I thought what the heck, I'll give it a try. I followed the directions exactly, and it's a good thing as we had guests coming over...both roasts were perfect, looked just like the picture. THANKS FOR THE RECIPE!

Bada Bing Bada Banged Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2011
Ok, first off I need to say I've made every recipe on the "Top 20" list...this deserves its place at the top! You can make the recipe as is, or follow the directions only adding whatever spices you want, just make sure you have enough to coat all the potatoes. I adjust the recipe according to how many potatoes I want to have, usually 1 pound. I didn't use the butter, just increased the olive oil. While my potatoes are boiling I mix up my olive oil and spices in a bowl. My favorite mix; basil, oregano, red pepper (or chili spice), tons of garlic and parmesan cheese. As another writer noted, I too, add some cheese on top at the very end and broil. When my potatoes are done parboiling (don't overcook-just enough to spear with a fork), I drain, smash slightly, and mix in a bowl with the olive oil mixture...spread on a cookie sheet, and bake. You can dress this recipe up by using white/red/purple small potatoes...BEAUTIFUL! THANKS for this recipe!!

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
Ok, my family doesn't really do the banana bread or muffin thing...but I just couldn't resist making these since they seem to always be the #1 recipe. First off, one of my students balked and said he didn't like muffins...when he ate this one he said, "Wow, these are fantastic." Next my husband came home after taking some to work and said..."remember what I said about not liking muffins...forget it, make those again, they were great, and I'm not kidding." That about says it all. Thanks for the recipe!

Jo's Rosemary Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2011
I made this bread today after looking for something I had around the house to take to a friend's to compliment a garlic/cheese hot dip. As another reviewer mentioned: used bread machine to make dough, then put bread in the oven (actually I took the dough to my friends in a baggy, and baked in a round cake pan). I didn't have the Italian seasoning, so I substituted, 1/4 tsp. garlic pepper, 1/4 tsp oregano, and 1/4 basil. This smelled and tasted GREAT! Thanks for the easy recipe!

I made this by the recipe, however, I squeezed a lime over the diced apples to keep them from browning...work great. Everyone loved it! I'm going to make it again tomorrow to take to a picnic!

Bread Machine Challah II

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
I used this recipe to make the Thanksgiving cornucopia on this site. I added about a 1/4 of wheat flour, and exchanged another 1/2cp wheat for white flour. I had enough for the cornucopia, and a small braided loaf...which was beautiful, and tasted wonderful. Thank You for this recipe..I will definitely make this again.

10 Pound Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
This came out fabulous..however, I cut the recipe in half, and used a premade graham crust. It filled it to the brim, and then when we sliced it up, we put on the pie filling topping (on the plate). Beautiful results!! Thanks for the recipe!

Cornucopia

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
I made this using my bread machine, and the recipe from this site "bread machine challah 11" I added a little extra flour once the dough came out of the machine. I didn't have enough foil to fill the entire cone...so, believe it or not, I filled my foil cone with socks, and topped with a foil covering. It turned out BEAUTIFUL!! I'm filling mine with rolls for our Thanksgiving table.

This was my first time making scones.. I've made them three times n the last 2 weeks. These were perfect to serve with coffee and tea, at a morning meeting I was facilitating. I added fresh picked blackberries, just took some dough and blackberries mushed together lightly in my hand, placed on cookie sheet, sprinkled with sugar. Thanks to Grandma Johnson!
