My neighbor has been doing this for years, except instead of the wine he uses beer.Fresh onions instead of jarred ones & no olives. But however you might tweak it-quite yummy.

Honey Dijon Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2013
We love B. sprouts, but I wanted to do something a bit different.I steamed the sprouts in my steamer,& whisked olive oil, the mustard, honey & onion powder together-no dill weed-so used herbs de Provence instead. Put the sauce w/the halved sprouts & it was a hit & is now saved to my R.Box & I will definetely be doing this again. Thanks Stacy

Sour Cream Dressing

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
I wanted this for a coleslaw dressing, so I followed it pretty closely, except much less olive oil & a little less sugar. I didn't have any parsley, but I did add some celery seed & some blue poppy seeds. Excellent for coleslaw-I will be making this again. used a no salt substitute & only 1 tsp of that.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2010
These are making the house smell so good! The spices are great-I put in a little more cinnamon, couldn't find any cloves, but that will appear in future makings of this recipe. Might have to make a ssecond batch soon as most of these are going out to the neighbors as gifts.

Saffron Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2010
Just bought saffron for the first time yesterday,so had to try this recipe w/it. I used 1/2 a small onion, & olive oil instead of butter ( 2 Tbsp.) also, chicken stock, not water, cause that's what I usually do. I did crush the saffron a bit into the stock & heated it in the microwave before adding it to the pan of rice. Hubs & I really liked this~we both cleaned our plates. If you have the saffron, give it a try. Didn't use any coloring-it was nice & golden by itself.

Baked Whole Cauliflower

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2010
We like cauliflower here, but this was so yummy! I used olive oil instead of butter a combination of the seasoned bread crumbs & some Panko & a bit more seasoning, as we are into spicy food here. I sprinkled shredded sharp cheddar cheese over the top after I had mixed everything else together & it was in the baking dish. I did pre steam the florets in the micro in a steaming bag, as that cuts down dthe cooking time. A great dish thati will definetely be making again. Thanks, Ariela for a new recipe & I will be sharing it w/the neighbor who grew the cauliflower.

Cottage Pudding - Upside Down Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2010
Followed the recipe pretty closely-after reading the reviews I made the topping w/ about a Tbsp. more brown sugar, & the fruit I used was a combination of some smashed fresh blueberries & some undrained crushed pineapple-what was left after I took out 1 cup (for another recipe) from a 20 oz. can. I also sprinkled in a bit of cinnamon. For the cake part I used butter flavored shortening & a bit less of the white sugar-maybe 2 Tbsps. less. I used a bit less salt & the milk was non-fat. I served it w/whipped cream over it & there were 4 yummy servings. Yes, we're big dessert eaters! I will definetely be making this again & try some of the variations. Thanks, Sandra for a great recipe!

Pineapple Beets

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2010
I was looking for an alternative to my favorite harvard Beets & this sounded like it would be a good stand-in. I used fresh beets that I cooked up this morning then peeled this afternoon. Did add a bit of cinnamon as I love that spice. We like it a lot & I will be making this again. My can of pineapple was "crushed".

Nonna's Tuscan Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2010
I follwed the recipe pretty closely-used a bit less water as the submitter suggested, did a combo of flavored red wine vineger & balsamic, used a tad more cheese & garlic & added a dash of tomatoe powder as I've been wanting to use it-had a nice blush, was a little runny, but didn't have time to let it set-went to a get-together straight from the blender, but it was a star of the party-everyone loved it-very- tasty & easy! I will definetly be making this again.

Single Cup Hot Buttered Rum

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2010
This was very good-1 was plenty! The only thing I had a hard time with was the 1/2 Tblsp measurement-kind of guess-timated, but it was very tasty & hit the spot. Thanks WW!

Homemade Pancake Syrup

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2010
I doubled the recipe & added some almond flavoring, too. Everyone here liked it & I am happy to not have to buy the over-priced syrups in the store. When I make it in the future I can play w/other flavorings-butter-cinnamon-pecan, etc. Thanks, Jill!

Waffles I

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2010
Like others, found this easy to prepare. Did add cinnamon, ginger & nutmeg as we like lots of spices here, so they are always on hand. Also doubled the sugar & vanilla & did add the salt, which I don't in a lot of recipes, but any dough product probably needs it. The texture was perfect-crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Thanks for sharing OneShy!

Italian Amaretto Margaritas

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
This was our New Year's Eve drink & they were fabulous! We used the Amarretto I made off this site, fresh-squeezed O.J. from my tree & DH contributed the Cabo Wabo that he received as a gift awhile back. A little taste of heaven for the tastebuds! Don't rush past "rimming" the glasses-that "makes" it!

End of the Line Ham Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2009
I read the reviews first,so precooked the potatoes & onions in the microwave, then layered the diced ham over that, then a generous layer of shredded cheese, poured over the sauce-used cream of mushroom w/roasted garlic,+ some more minced garlic, then sprinkled some It. bread crumbs over the top. Baked for 1/2 an hour. The potatoes could have been cooked a little more-(I used 4 big ones), but the reheating of the left-overs will take care of that. We really liked this & I would do it again. Thanks, Dottie

Puppy Chow II

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
I followed the recipe very closely.only adding some vanilla extract, about a teaspoon, & used Shredded Wheat spoon size Honey Nut. Lots of sauce so added some Chex also about another cup or so. Then chilled in fridge before shaking in bag w/powdered sugar. Needed to use quite a bit more to get a good coating.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

This went together pretty quickly & easily. I added some minced garlic & some chopped carrots bits, used a no salt seasoning, topped w/a bit of shredded cheese & hubby & I loved it! I want to make it w/clams also ( instead of the ham) as I love a chowder. Thanks for the great recipe.

Toasted Party Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2009
I changed the celery salt to celery seed-used less. all the salts were changed to powders, used CostCos's no salt seasoning. used real unsalted butter. didn't have any mixed nuts handy, but used 2 types of pretzels & some oyster crackers. Seems like it will be a good last-minute snack while visiting the neighbors today!

Amaretto

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2009
Oh, Yumm! Made dark brown sugar by adding some molasses to light brown sugar. Quick cooled the pan by rubbing ice cubes over it, then took it to the neighbors for a taste test. Now I have to make her some for the W/E. This is a great recipe & so easy! Thanks for sharing, Marjory.
