About this Cook
I love to cook for friends who love to eat.I am a total foodie.Nothing makes me happier than seeing someones excitement over a dish I made for them or a recipe I gave them.
My favorite things to cook
I am not in to complex or tedious cooking.I like it slow and simple, full of robust flavors and deep satisfaction. Give me simmering pots of soups, stews or chili that fill my house with mouth watering aromas.Turn the oven on low and slow roast the meat, the bird or the casserole to divine perfection. My microwave and toaster oven are there for emergency service only!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Starting the Sunday "gravy" at 7.00 a.m. Slowly browning the various meats.Layering in the 3 varieties of tomato sauce, mixing in the spices, tasting, adjusting, adding back the meats and simmering for hours and of course the best part, tasting, tasting, tasting! My highest compliment was for another foodie friend telling me that she could make a meal out of just my gravy and a loaf of Italian bread. She would literally just sit and eat my gravy with a spoon!!!

Baked Pork Chops I
This is by far the best pork chop recipe I have ever made.My daughter raved about them and has asked me to make them regularly. I did do a few things differently.I sauted fresh onions, garlic and mushrooms for about 5 mins and added them to the soup mixture.I poured the mixture into my casserole dish and then added the chops,so that they cooked in the soup for the entire hour. This was delish and we barely needed a knife. The gravy was perfect over mashed potatoes. I have also made this on top of the stove in a very large, deep frying pan with lid and it was just as perfect as baking in the oven.
