Simple Pesto Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2012
Simple and Delicious. I used garlic butter for an even more garlic-y taste.

Fruit Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2010
This was really easy and very fast to put together for a last minute dessert. Not counting cutting up the fruit (used fresh peaches and strawberries) it took 10 minutes to whip up and get in the oven. Taste wise , well it was a little bland , and peaches aren't very sweet so the best bites were the ones with strawberry in it , would double or make all strawberry next time. Also I added a oatmeal/brown sugar crumble to the top and thank god I did because the base was good but nothing spectacular and the crumble made it taste like a 5 star dessert. Just base and peaches I'd give 3.5 stars , with strawberries and crumble 5 stars. I added the crumble 20 minutes before it was done baking.

Heavenly White Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2010
I have a mixed review about this cake. It was delicious, 5 stars on taste. But I was expecting it to taste and be the texture of white fluffy cake. It was not at all. It tasted , smelled and looked like sugar cookies, which I'm not complaining about because they were so good, but was expecting something different. I made mine into cupcakes and 1 batch makes exactly 24 cupcakes , I followed the advice of one reviewer to cook for 16 minutes at 350 but it was a little undercooked I found 18 minutes was better. I made these cupcakes for my sons soccer game and I had parents coming back for seconds , so all in all I would make these again for sure. But would find a different recipe if I needed to make an actual white cake.

Chicken with Lemon Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2010
Wow! A friend gave me a big bag of lemons and it was chicken night so I looked up Lemon chicken and this popped up. I was hoping it would be good after all the great reviews , but wasn't expecting it to be plate licking good! I made the sauce exactly as written except used garlic butter in place of regular butter , chicken I made the way I always make fried , throw the chicken in seasoned flour, then milk (instead of eggs to save calories) and then into bread crumbs and it makes a nice thick crust on the chicken. Omg the sauce , I could have honestly made chicken any way and the sauce would have still made it delicious. I marinated the chicken in lemon juice and garlic for a few hours and doubled the lemon in the sauce and it was just lemony enough. My husband was making Mmmmm noises all through dinner, and we fought over the last few drops of the sauce. If I wasn't trying to watch my weight this would be a regular in my house, but I'll definitely have to sneak it in once a month! Also the ingredients say 5 teaspoons of flour , but it's very obviously supposed to say 5 tablespoons

Dash's Donair

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2010
The meat looked and tasted awesome. I'm still always surprised when I make something I've only eaten in restaurants and it actually comes out tasting exactly like it's supposed to. I'm only giving it 4 stars because I didn't care for the the sauce. I followed it exactly and it set up nice and thick but it was soo sweet and sugary it turned my stomach. And my husband refused to eat it and ate the rest of his plain instead of with the sauce. I had to go buy some tzatziki so we could eat the leftovers and that was delicious.

Old Fashioned Onion Rings

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2010
These are sooo Good! I've made them twice now. The first time was spur of the moment and I didn't have time to dip it in the breading so I mixed the breadcrumbs into the batter and they were really tasty but not crunchy. Second time I gave myself lots of time and did each step and included a lot more spices like garlic powder, paprika , cayenne pepper and they were so crunchy and spicy and De-Lish! Just as good , if not better than I've had in restaurants.

Crab Quiche

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2010
This was amazing. I've never tried quiche before and neither has my husband , but I had a can of crab and wanted to make something special for father's day. Mmmmm. I doubled the filling (to make 2 pies) and made it as written and then added cooked spinach, fried onions and to my husbands pie mushrooms. I didn't have deep dish crusts so the filling make soo much we had it as a big batch of scrambled eggs the next morning. We both had our left over pies for lunch 2 days later and it is just as good cold.

Fresh Pineapple Upside Down Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2010
This tasted good and it looked great. But the directions of the order in which to do each step are wrong. If I made this again I'd make the topping closer to the end. By the time I poured the batter into the topping the butter got cold and hard. Also I'd make the egg whites last, I followed the steps and by the time I was supposed to put them in they weren't as whipped as they were.

Chunky Monkey Pancakes

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2010
MMmmm These were Delicious! We're not really fans of big fluffy pancakes in this house , more of a crepe family , but these sounded too good not to make. These were gone so fast I couldn't take a picture , even my son who hates bananas ate half of his. I didn't have vanilla but they still came out great.

Luscious Lemon Cheesecake

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2010
I followed the recipe except for adding 2 tbs of lemon extract extra to make it nice and lemony. My husband wanted a lemon meringue cheesecake so I used this for the cheesecake and then added meringue on top. MMMmmmm (Also I added a touch of yellow food gel to it to have the nice deep yellow color contrast the white meringue, looked great)

Magic Cookie Bars I

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2010
These are amazing. I used the search engine to find a dessert that used all the ingredients I had on hand and this popped up and thank goodness it did! I mixed the butter and crumbs together and pushed them into the bottom and then topped with walnuts , white, milk and semi-sweet chocolate chips , then coconut and then sweetened milk on top of everything and they turned out perfect. I brought them as the dessert to a dinner and the host wouldn't let me leave with the few leftovers there were lol Which upset my husband and which is why I'm making him a double batch this weekend !

Aunt Anne's Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2010
OMG this was so good. my first time making coffee cake. because of people's complaints of it being too thin I baked mine in a 10in spring form cake pan instead and it was a good thickness (Might try 9 or even 8 in next time for thicker) and even though mine was smaller I still made the topping double because that's the best part! haha Also I used half brown sugar and half white like others suggested. Everyone who tried it raved and my father who usually doesn't like sweets had seconds! Can't wait to try this again soon.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
I can't believe I haven't reviewed these cookies yet! I've been making them for a while , exactly as the recipe states , I always double the batch and get exactly 36 large cookies. Mine always take exactly 18 mins. I've made them with so many different add ins , for Christmas gifts I added red & green M&M's and milk chocolate chips. The batch I have in the freezer right now (Made 36 dough balls weeks ago and have about 7 now and they taste great and an awesome quick snack to make for guests when they come over, just pop them out let the oven preheat and them defrost a bit and 18 mins) are chocolate chips, PB chips and mini Hersey kisses. Trying CC, white CC and PB M&M's next week :) These cookies are sooo good you can't help but eat them right out of the stove , but if you can wait they taste even better the next day (If stored properly) The dough definitely needs to be refrigerated for a few hours , overnight if possible before rolling into balls.

Brownie Caramel Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
I think I read too many reviews! I followed a few tips , 3 packs of cream cheese , pecans around the edge to keep the caramel from spilling out. It looked amazing , no one believed I made it . My only complaint is that after 20 minutes of cooking the brownie and then another 55 minutes of cooking the cream cheese the brownie was still totally raw , which made it hard to cut , but it was yummy!

Creamy Broccoli Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2008
This was really yummy! Because of other reviews claiming it was bland I used garlic & herb cream cream and it had such a good flavor. I didn't put crackers on the bottom , but used vegetable thins crackers and shredded cheese on top (Which made a nice crust) I used fresh broccoli so that I'd only have the heads and not the other chunks that come in the frozen vegetable packs. Also , made sure to save some for the next day because it is soo good cold! I put enough away for my husband and I the next day and he was lucky to get a bite!
