Hot Mexican Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
Very good recipe. I added half a can of corn kernels and omitted the evaporated milk at other reviewers' suggestions. We also sprinkled it with hot sauce and served with sour cream. Great with lime tortilla chips. Will be making again.

Get-Well Custard

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2010
I followed the recipe exactly, although I didn't worry about using a strainer. It took 90 minutes to bake. My husband loved it. He ate half the dish the first night. I thought it was a bit bland for my taste. The next day it was watery on the bottom.

Sweet Corn Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2009
Awesome muffins! So sweet! I didn't change a thing, and got told by many family members that they were the best muffins ever. Be careful with cooking time-they only took my oven 20 minutes to bake.

Great Pumpkin Dessert

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2009
This was good, but we thought there was a drastic difference between the soft pumpkin base and the hard cake topping. Too many nuts. I won't be making this often.

Cocoa Apple Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2009
I got mixed reviews on this cake...I thought it was only okay, while others though it was divine. You either love it or are just okay with it.

Caramel Frosting I

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2009
Delicious! I used dark brown sugar and it reminded me of penuche fudge. I used it to frost the cocoa apple bundt cake on this site.

Pumpkin Pie Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2009
I followed other reviewers' advice and used half wheat flour. I also cut down the vegetable oil to 1/2 cup and added 1/2 cup apple butter. The bread turned out incredibly moist, but I think it could have been sweeter. It didn't have a strong pumpkin flavor to me either.

Spiced Pumpkin Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
This barely deserves one star. I followed the recipe as stated and it was all a pile of mush. It didn't even taste good. I make fudge all the time, and this recipe did not work for me.

Impossible Coconut Pie I

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
My mom and I have been baking this pie for years. We make it for every big holiday and it is always a hit. Make sure you really grease the pie plate or the pie will fall apart when you try to pull it out. It's awesome topped with cool whip!

Grandma's Corn Pudding

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2009
This is the best corn pudding I ever made. The whole kernels give it a nice texture, and it is just the right amount of sweetness.

Peanut Butter Easter Eggs

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
Excellent recipe! I doubled the recipe and used whipping cream instead of milk. It took about 1/4 cup of cream to make a smooth mixture. A 1 pound package of Candy Quik was enough to coat the balls-doubling the recipe made about 80 of them.

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2009
This recipe was good, but nothing spectacular. I thought the mixture was a bit too moist-I would much rather eat cake like normal with the frosting on top. I followed the advice from the reviews and cooled the cake (I baked a rainbow chip) before using a stand mixer to make it into crumbs. I used 2/3 of a can of frosting (also rainbow chip). Using a tablespoon measure, it made 75 balls which I froze for 8 hours. It took about 1.5 pounds of melted white chocolate candy to coat. I immediately sprinkled each ball with nonpareils before the coating had a chance to harden. They took about 2 hours to make overall, not including the freezing time. My husband liked them better than me--he is a middle school teacher, and he said his co-workers and students loved them. They were VERY sweet.

Wedding Cake Icing

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
What an excellent frosting! I followed the recipe exactly, didn't need to add any extra water. I have this on vanilla cupcakes and the cookies and cream cake on this site. It most definitely tastes like bakery frosting to my mother and me.

Cookie Dough for Ice Cream (Eggless)

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2009
I used this recipe along with the five ingredient ice cream one on this site. I followed the recipe except for subbing milk for the water. It definitely tastes like authentic cookie dough; it just seems like something is missing.

Home-Style Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2009
I'm not a big potato fan, but I went back for seconds on this dish! This is an excellent recipe, although I did switch up a few things: I carmelized a whole large sliced onion in 8 tablespoons of butter (instead of using 1/3 cup chopped and 5 tablespoons until tender), I doubled the pepper, and I added 1 cup of cheddar and monterey jack shredded cheeses to the boiling milk. This took 90 minutes to bake. My family is already requesting the dish for Thanksgiving.

Skillet Cookies I

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
What a fantastic recipe! I have made this several times, using walnuts instead of pecans. I have found that the mixture stays together better by adding an extra 1/2 cup of rice krispies. This is my husband's favorite cookie.

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
I follow this recipe exactly except for using a 7 ounce can of green chiles and light cream cheese. I also stir in all of the parmesan cheese to avoid a crusty top from the microwave. I prefer baking it in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes until it bubbles on the sides. This is frequently requested by family members.

Apple Strudel Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2009
These were pretty good, although I thought they could be a bit sweeter. I followed the recipe for the most part, except that I doubled the streusel topping amounts and grated the apples. I made these into 12 huge muffins. Next time I will add some more sugar to the batter.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2009
Wow! No wonder this recipe is in the site's top 20! This is the best apple pie I have ever tasted. I followed reviewers' suggestions and prebaked the shell at 350 degrees for 10 minutes to prevent a soggy crust. I also decreased the water to 3 tablespoons, and added 1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg. The pie baked at 350 degrees for 60 minutes and didn't even need foil to prevent scorching. I'm so glad I finally tried this recipe--it is going to be one of my most tried and true!

Slow Cooker Taco Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2009
I made this last month for my sister-in-law's superbowl party. It was a hit! I followed the recipe exactly. We served it with crushed tortilla chips and sour cream. People kept going back for bowl after bowl. I thought it could be a little more spicy, but everyone else said it was perfect. I will definietly make this again!
