Ricotta Cookies III

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2010
I had one cup of ricotta cheese left over from making lasagna, and although I was weary about cookies with cheese in them, boy I am glad I tried this recipe! I halved the ingredients and baked the cookies for 13 minutes. It made 30 medium sized cookies. For the frosting I just used butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and almond extracts thinned with water. These would make a great holiday cookie with the right colored sprinkles.

Pie Crust IV

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2010
This is the first homemade pie crust recipe I have ever tried and it was so easy and so good...it is also going to be the last. I added about one tablespoon of powdered sugar to sweeten it up a bit and cooled it in the fridge 30 minutes before baking. I used it for a pecan pie recipe and I will never go back to store bought crusts!

Laura's Quick Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2010
Great recipe! I will definitely be making it again. I suggest substituting diced tomatoes with chili peppers for a more authentic taste. No need for the red pepper flakes either-the chili powder already gives it more than enough zest.

Chocolate Covered Marshmallows

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2010
These are a great project to make with little kids. My four year old niece and I used (tinted pink) white chocolate and rainbow sprinkles. We called them "princess marshmallows" and she loved them.

Oatmeal Whoopie Pies

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2010
Excellent! These taste just like the Little Debbie oatmeal creme pies but even better. I kept the cookies the same, baking them for 10 minutes to keep them super soft. I used a different filling consisting of 7 oz. marshmallow creme, 1/2 cup shortening, 1/3 cup powdered sugar, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, and 1/4 teaspoon salt dissolved in 2 teaspoons hot water. Delicious.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2010
My mom has been baking this recipe since I can remember. She makes at least one batch if not three or four every week. They are the BEST.

Creamy Orange Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2010
This cake is delicious and gets moister the longer it sits...One thing this recipe fails to mention is that the cake should be refrigerated as soon as the gelatin is poured over it. Also, it needs to stay refrigerated due to the whipped topping.

Premier White Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2010
After trying several recipes for white chocolate brownies, I finally hit the jackpot with this one. Tender, moist, and delicious...what more can I say? I'm a frosting girl, and used melted white chocolate chips, sugar, milk, and butter to make a melt-in-your-mouth addition to this wonderful bar. I highly recommend this recipe for all the white chocolate lovers out there!

Zucchini Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2010
What a great way to incorporate zucchini into dessert! I have made this two ways, once using the vegetable oil and once substituting apple sauce. The vegetable oil gives the brownies a more fudge-like texture and the apple sauce gives it a more sponge-like texture. Either way tastes wonderful and I'll be using this recipe in the future. My husband loves them so much I've already made two batches in one week!

Blueberry Streusel Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2010
What a fabulous way to use up my frozen blueberries from our garden! I followed the recipe for the cake exactly (using 2 teaspoons of baking powder instead of the tablespoons typo). I skipped the streusel topping and when the cake cooled frosted it with a mixture of melted butter, vanilla extract, orange extract, powdered sugar, and milk. This is going to become a staple year round in my house. Thank you for the recipe!

Brownie Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2010
Wow! This frosting was so quick and easy to make but tasted like I spent a long time on it. It got rave reviews on my homemade brownies and made the perfect amount for a 13 x 9 inch pan. This one's a keeper! P.S. This tastes great made with white chocolate chips, just let the frosting set up a little longer.

Frozen Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Balls

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2010
Pretty good. I left out the chips and nuts, rolled into a log and froze for an hour before eating. Good enough to satisfy a cookie dough craving but the lack of eggs is definitely too noticeable.

Eclair Cake

So easy and so delicious! I made this for Easter dessert and 6 people ate almost the whole cake. I doubled the frosting but kept everything else the same. Yum!

Orange Cream Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2010
Wonderful! I made this for a family dinner and it got rave reviews. I followed others' suggestions and used only 3/4 cup milk and 1/2 cup sour cream. I also added an extra can of diced peaches and an extra can of mandarin oranges. I omitted the banana and apple. For some extra fluff I stirred in 4 oz. cool whip before serving. Yummy!

Yummy Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2010
Delicious! I made this for a family dinner and people couldn't keep out of it. I followed other reviewers' suggestions and used 2 jars of artichoke hearts. I also made it healthier by using light miracle whip and light chive and onion cream cheese. I just stirred in all the parmesan together and didn't use any for topping. I also made it hotter by using a 7 oz. jar of chile peppers. This recipe is a keeper!

Tres Leches (Milk Cake)

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2010
Excellent recipe! The only thing I did different was use 1 teaspoon vanilla in the cake batter and 2 cups of whipping cream for the topping. Definitely let it rest for atleast one night before serving to let the milks soak through. My mom and I thought it tasted more flavorful on the third day. I'm only giving it 4 stars because my husband thought it was bland, but he had it the next day.

Microwave Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2010
This is the same recipe from the old Tappan Microwave cookbook. My mother made it all the time in the fall as I was growing up. Everyone who has had it just loves it and the best part is you can't tell it that was baked in the microwave.

Cookies 'n Cream Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
Absolutely divine! I used two whole eggs instead of the whites. The pans took 25 minutes to bake. I didn't want to use raw eggs, so I frosted it with the grocery store frosting on this site. For garnishing I used mini oreos around the circumference and crushed oreos on top. This was probably the best cake I have ever made.
