I have a 3 year old daughter and a husband who love my making meals for them, bear with my experiments gracefully, and can eat with a flourish! My mother and I are from Spain, and so I have grown up with traditional Spanish(not Latin!) cooking, and my father has a flair for the gourmet.
My favorite things to cook
I am very good at making breads and I like to experiment. Right now I am working with a book called Breads of France. My first attempt was a disaster but now I'm stuffing everyone's face with really good bread! I love trying recipes from different countries. I especially like stir-frying because it's relatively quick and healthy, and the flavor possibilities are absolutely endless.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always supply hand-made dinner rolls and desserts at holiday dinners. I love doing that, it feels great when my family is begging for more buttery rolls!
By far, one of my absolute favorite meals is a Spanish tortilla. I always nag my mom to make me one. I will eat 1/4 of it while it's fresh out of the pan and a slice here or there every few hours until it's gone!
My cooking triumphs
Whenever I try a new recipe and it comes out excellent, it is a triumph for me. I get passionate about my cooking and I want to please everyone, so if I cook for you, you better clean your plate!
My cooking tragedies
The worst tasting one, I think, was an 'egg-bread' recipe I tried out a bread-making machine book. It rose beautifully, and then totally deflated and looked like roadkill, and tasted horrible. But the list is endless..
