My favorite things to cook
NEW DINNER RECIPES--I get so tired of fixing the same staple meals over & over, so I'm always looking for something new to try! I especially love casseroles (just because they're usually so darn good!) & slowcooker meals (so convenient!).
My favorite family cooking traditions
Helping my grandparents prepare Thanksgiving dinner--we start on the Wednesday evening before making homemade stuffing (a recipe passed down through my PawPaw's family), cutting up a little bit of almost every fruit in the produce section for PawPaw's famous fruit salad, stuffing the turkey. etc.
I also love baking cookies with my mom & making homemade candy for Christmas with my mom & MeeMee.
My cooking triumphs
I have a few recipes that my husband really raves about to other people, which makes me feel really good. I also have relatives beg me to make tiramisu, so I guess I've gotten pretty good at it--I just don't make it very often because it's pretty involved. I also make a mean broccoli casserole, taco dip, & homemade mac & cheese :)
My cooking tragedies
Thankfully I don't have very many, but the few that stick out include an undercooked Christmas ham, a defective Butterball turkey (yes, it was really defective & we got our money back from Butterball!)the top layer of a double-layer cake splitting in 3 pieces on its own, an incident with potatoes & a pressure cooker (I haven't used a pressure cooker since, & that was 6 1/2 yrs ago!), & of course the standard burnt biscuits/cupcakes/cookies/garlic bread, etc. that every cook goes through throughout their entire existence!
