Turkey Polish Sausage and Peppers

I personally loved this recipe! I omitted the mushrooms because I don't like them. I used both zucchinis called for, but only used 2 super large red bell peppers because they were on sale, while the yellow ones weren't. I served it over brown rice. I could easily eat this once a week, but the kids picked out the peppers.

Garlic Asparagus with Lime

Cheesy Baked Cauliflower

This is one of our favorite vegetables to serve with dinner. But I like to sprinkle a little paprika and garlic powder after the mayonnaise and mustard mixture is spread. It gives it just a little more flavor. I also steam the cauliflower in the microwave since that only takes about 6 minutes. I don’t really measure the ingredient anymore, I just portion them the way that I like.

Cranberry, Sausage and Apple Stuffing

This recipe was easy enough to make. I prechopped all the vegetables the night before Christmas to make prepartion easier the next day. I used it to stuff the turkey and baked the remaining stuffing. I have to admit that everyone seemed to like the baked stuffing better than the stuffing from the turkey. I wasn't that fond of the cranberries and think that I will go back to my favorite sausage cornbread stuffing next holiday. People who really like cranberries will probably love this stuffing more than I did.

French Apple Pie with Cream Cheese Topping

This recipe turns out well everytime I make it. It is very moist. I make it without the cream cheese icing and serve it warm with cool whip. Everyone likes it. My one nephew likes it better than American Apple pie.

Broccoli Casserole II

I used cream of celery soup instead of mushroom soup. I also added cheese to the top for the last 10 minutes of baking. I was hoping that the cheese would make it more appealing to the small kids. The adults loved this recipe, however, the kids still didn't care for it much. We'll make broccoli eaters out of them one of these days.

Cinnamon Chip Applesauce Coffeecake

I made this for Christmas morning since it is our family traditional to have coffee cake for breakfast on Christmas. I had to subsitute berry flavored applesauce for regular since I didn't realize that I was out of the regular until that morning. This did not seem to effect the flavor. The cake was moist and great!

Brown Family's Favorite Pumpkin Pie

I made this pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving 2002. I usually worry when trying a new recipe for a holiday, but you need not worry with this one. This pumpkin pie came out absolutely delicious and I am making it again for Christmas. The topping made this pumpkin pie stand above the rest!

Easy Cheese Cake

I thought that this recipe came out way too sour. Perhaps it needs some sugar added. I really don’t know what would make it better. I put fresh fruit on top of this cheesecake. Maybe it would taste better with that sugary cherry pie filling on top. The recipe was easy to do.

Day Before Mashed Potatoes

The best mashed potatoes ever! They have a good sour cream and onion flavor to them. These are much better than plain mashed potatoes. I made these for Thanksgiving 2002 and was so impressed that I’m making them for Christmas too. I found this recipe easy except for peeling the potatoes, which I hate to do (I think that I will talk my sister into peeling the potatoes for Christmas). I think that these mashes potatoes could be eaten right away and still be good, but I have not tried them that way. The whole reason that I went with this recipe was to have something done the day before.

Overnight Coffee Cake

This is a really great coffee cake. My family has a tradition of having a coffee cake on Christmas morning. I think that this recipe is perfect for this because I just get up on Christmas morning and put it in the oven. This is so much easier than the old tradition of getting up early and starting from scratch.

Wednesday Cookies

I put these cookies in a rubbermaid container and they got very sticky within an hour or so. Also if the cookies come out out rounded on top so when you go to flip and frost the cookies like the recipe says they teeter-tooter back and forth, which is a real pain.

Spice Cake I

I made this cakea coupleweeks ago and everyone loved it. My husband's friends said that it was a "perfect cake". No frosting is required. It tastes good without. If you were to use a frosting I would probably suggest a creamcheese or sourcream frosting.

Aunt Zula's Christmas Cutouts

I thought that this was one of the best sugar cookie recipes that I have ever tried. I liked that the dough didn't have to be refigerated before rolling it out. That makes it probably the fastest sugar cookie to make. These are meant to be iced. I highly recommend using the Butter Icing for Sugar Cookies on this website. Using these two together I have decorated cookies for Valentine's Day, Halloween, and Christmas.
