Parsley Red Potatoes

Reviewed: May 2, 2012
I wanted something easy and simple to go with a spicy roast beef, and this definitely fit the bill. I followed the recipe exactly, and it was good, but I think I will cut down on the butter next time, as well as add a tiny bit more salt and a dash of pepper at the end.

Butter Cookie Crust

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2012
I cut back on the butter because others said it was greasy, but other than that, I followed the recipe. I wanted an easy crust for my kids to use with an almond pear tart. Well, it WAS easy, but the taste really took over the whole tart. I thought the crust was too sweet and too hard, and the cinnamon was quite strong. I don't think I'll use this again.

Basque Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2012
The first time I tried this recipe, I didn't read the reviews first, and my cake came out with the cake and cream mushed together. So I tried again, this time with butter added to the cake dough, but the result was still the same. I think perhaps there is too much pastry cream, and it overwhelms the cake. I am going to look for a different recipe.

Old-Fashioned Sally Lunn Muffins

This is very bland shortcake, even when I added the tablespoon of vanilla and a little extra sugar. I won't be making this one again.

Pork and Bean Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2012
Aside from leaving out the walnuts, I followed this recipe exactly, and it is DELICIOUS! I was inspired to try it because my daughters and I are reading the American Girls books (Molly, 1944) in which they needed to ration sugar because of WWII. A wonderful lesson, and a keeper! We've made it twice this week. The only thing I would change is the size of the loaf pan, it was too big. We used two 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 pans, and the loves baked up higher instead of flatter.

Sour Cream Frosting

This just tastes like sugar. It was also very runny.

Creamy Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2012
First of all, let me say that this was a DELICIOUS soup -- the spices were perfect and yummy. But since people had issues with the broccoli & zucchini, I decided to add them only at the last hour of cooking. This worked well for the zucchini, but not the broccoli, which turned a sickly color. So I think next time (and there will be a next time!) I will just eliminate the broccoli and add another zucchini. Thanks for this recipe, Corwynn!

Seafood Salad III

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2011
I didn't like this at all. To me, the whole thing tasted like sweetened mayonnaise and green peppers. I tried adding more vinegar, but it didn't improve the taste. I am looking for a recipe like the seafood salads you get in restaurants, but this is not it.

This recipe is SO FREAKIN GOOD! All I needed to add was an extra tablespoon of stock. I plan to make this my go-to side dish! EXCELLENT!

This was flavorful, but not a quiche! I would call it a muffin.

French Tourtiere

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2004
This pie is DELICIOUS! Even my five-year-old husband who refuses to eat like an adult LOVED this dish! It was easy to make and tastes great. I was nervous about using a spice like mace on meat, but the spices were perfect. I wouldn't change a thing about this recipe!

Caramel Frosting I

I didn't like this frosting at all. It just tasted like powdered sugar to me. A lot of people seemed to like this recipe though. What did I do wrong? If you know, let me know!

This cake is simple to make, and DELICIOUS!! Tender, not too sweet, perfect if you want your filling to be the main event. Delicious with a simple frosting as well.

Easy Creamy Vanilla Fudge

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2004
This tastes like cheap icing. If you don't cook it long enough, it's runny, if you cook it too long, it flakes and hardens. But it really does taste just like hardened confectioner's sugar.

Easy and Elegant Pork Tenderloin

This recipe was easy, but not elegant. The crust turned into crumbs the second the knife touched it. It was also very bland.

Eggnog Quick Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2003
This bread was very tasty, but dry as many people said. I fixed it by reducing the flour to 2 cups, increasing the nutmeg to 1/2 tsp, and adding 1 Tbsp of oil. It needed about 10 minutes of extra baking time, but it came out perfectly moist and delicious!

Crab Imperial II

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2003
DEEEEE-licious! Easy and quick to make. I portioned this into four 6-oz ramekins instead of the pie tin, and it was great. This is very spicy, so I think I will cut the cayenne in half next time. Definitely a keeper!

Pan De Sal II

These rolls taste really good, but I tried the recipe twice, and both times, it came out really heavy; it hardly rose at all. Maybe I need to go lighter on the flour?

Eggnog Quick Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2002
This bread tastes REALLY good, but the recipe definitely needs to be tweaked. Even after I added extra oil, as another reviewer did, I found this bread still very dry. (Maybe a little less flour?) Anyway, this was really good in a trifle, because the custard made up for the dryness of the bread.

Greek Butter Cookies

I found this dough too sticky and soft to work with, even after refrigerating. Also, at 400 degrees, the first batch was scorched! These came out nice in the end, but not spectacular.
