Simple Strawberry Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2014
I grew up eating strawberries this way. Any left over strawberries from mom's cakes were up for grabs so we'd throw some sugar on them and enjoy!

Italian Meatball Sandwich Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2014
This was delicious. I read a ton of reviews and changed the following 3 things: I omitted the water completely, swapped the mayo out for ricotta cheese and toasted the bread in the baking dish before topping it with the cheese/sauce. The bread was still soft but not overly mushy. Everyone cleaned their plates and wanted more (good thing this makes plenty!) Will make this again, definitely (I want to try Garlic Texas Toast next time) :)

Sweet and Spicy Salmon with Grapefruit Salsa

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2014
Due to the fact that my family would not touch this with 3 certain ingredients in it, I had to swap them out beforehand. We used tilapia instead of salmon and tomatoes in place of the grapefruit & red bell pepper. It was delicious with our changes. The seasoning was wonderful, I plan on using it quite a bit in the future with other fillets of fish. The salsa had a nice kick to it that blended nicely with everything else. We served this on top of rice and it was gone in no time.

Pork Carnitas with Cilantro Tomatillo Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2014
Due to all the reviews I'd seen so far, I halved this recipe. One half was made exactly as written - I'd give it a 3. It was delicious but not enough flavor for our family (referring to both the salsa and the meat.) The other half I tweaked to our liking. I'd rate that a 5 as there were no complaints, however, my rating here will reflect 'as is' :) After browning the meat as written, my changes were: we added more of each seasoning it called for (to taste) and finished the meat in our slow cooker. Instead of covering it in water, I used Herdez Pasilla sauce for extra flavor. We topped it with tomatoes, green onions, tomatillos, shredded cheddar cheese and a small squeeze of ranch dressing for the kids. So tender and great flavor!

Japanese Potsticker Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2014
Had this with potstickers recently. It was OK, had a decent kick to it but not much else flavor. Will follow some of the other suggestions next time and see if we can kick it up a notch.

Juicy Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2014
We really enjoyed this recipe. Only thing in the recipe I changed was we omitted the celery as no one here eats it. The rest we followed as is. For me it was hard to carve (it was so tender and juicy, it just shredded to bits.) The skin had a wonderful flavor that went along well with the meat. Next time I'll use a little more seasoning to see if we can get it to permeate the meat better & add some potatoes to get a full meal out of it. Definitely a keeper and a great time saver!

Mustard Based BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2014
I live in South Carolina and love mustard based sauces. We forgot to pick some up for pulled pork sandwiches tonight so I threw this together. Very quick and easy, took no time at all to get it ready. It was a bit too sweet for my liking. Husband loved it, as did the kids.

Italian Breaded Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2014
Loved this. I didn't utilize the oven at all, cooked them to completely in the pan as the directions said I could on medium-low. I also coated them in flour before dipping them in the egg/milk mixture, to help everything stick better. I seasoned the chops before coating them with a little salt, pepper and garlic powder. When they were done, I sprinkled mozzarella on top of them and put them on a bed of pasta and our favorite pasta sauce. A play on Chicken Parmesan, it was wonderful!

Easter Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2013
This ham was delicious. Very sweet flavor and very juicy, which is what I was hoping for. We omitted the honey (didn't have any on hand) and I think it would have been too sweet if I'd included it. Definitely a keeper!

Overnight Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2013
This was delicious! It was my very first 'from scratch' cake that wasn't a cheesecake. Hubby and family loved it, it was gone in a few days. We made our own buttermilk (stores were all out around here.) Won't change a thing next time I make it!

Brown Sugar and Mustard Ham Glaze

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2013
We really liked this. Might try a different mustard next time (the regular mustard had quite a bite to it) but was still yummy and very quick to prepare!

Easy Chicken Tetrazzini

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2013
We really enjoyed this the second time around. It was very bland the first time we cooked it as listed (3 stars) so for my 2nd attempt I made the following changes per various reviews (5 stars): I cooked the spaghetti noodles in chicken broth. I used chicken broth instead of bouillon/water in the mixture. I put the cheddar cheese in the mixture, not on top. I added sauteed onions, sauteed garlic, salt and pepper to the mixture. I mixed the noodles and mixture together and poured it in the dish and topped with just breadcrumbs. Not very healthy but definitely delicious comfort food!

Granny Kat's Pumpkin Roll

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2013
We enjoyed this. While mine did crack, it was a small crack and I'm not one to care so much on appearances. Hubby and the kids loved it. The filling was a bit sweeter than I expected (will cut down on the sugar next time) and it definitely tasted better the next day after it had sat awhile. Will definitely make this again.

Thanksgiving Leftovers Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2013
I can't believe how much we enjoyed this. The only vegetable we used was corn and we subbed the miracle whip for mayo. Otherwise, I kept it the same. Great way to use up leftovers, very convenient dish before work tonight!

This chicken was awesome. We couldn't locate ginger root so we used ginger seasoning. Loved the flavor, definitely will have it again!

Lo Mein Noodles

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2013
Due to personal preference, we omitted the celery and carrots. Also didn't have any honey so we substituted it with corn syrup. Everything else we left the same and LOVED it. Will make this way again in the future!

Restaurant Style Egg Drop Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2013
We did not like this at all. Somehow the cornstarch ruined it and it ended up being clumpy and tasting like straight up chicken broth. Not sure if we'll try it again.

Real Canadian Poutine

I couldn't get the consistency right for this, however, it was still delicious. We all thoroughly enjoyed it with the mozzarella cheese. Looked for cheese curds but have had no luck so far. Will keep looking though!

Johnsonville® One-Pan Italian

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2013
This was a great recipe. I thought I'd love to try a new sauce with this - huge mistake. The sauce was horrible and ruined the whole dish. Since that was on me, I re-made it with a sauce we like and it definitely made the dish 100 times better. It tells you 'your favorite pasta sauce' for a reason! Would recommend to anyone, super fast and delicious meal :)
