White Wine Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
I've made this soup a few times and the broth is amazing. My only complaint would be that the starchy vegetables break down into mush after it's been cooking for awhile and stirred often. If I made it again, I'd cut back on the starch and add more carrots, celery, and harder veggies. I'd also cut back a little bit on the amount of veggies to make it more brothy. Super tasty recipe!

Linguine with Clams and Porcini Mushrooms

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
I did love this dish. My only complaint was the rehydrated mushrooms I purchased were a mixed variety and were very chewy. I may skip them altogether or try this recipe with fresh mushrooms. I thought it was fantastic and I served it over Trader Joe's Garlic and Chive Linguine. I'm also tempted to try this with canned clams to decrease the cost. In terms of fresh clams, you want to make sure to buy clams that are tightly closed. Take them home and immediately take them out of their bag (or they'll suffocate). To clean them, scrub them with a brush, and place them in a large bowl of cold fresh water. Let them sit there for at least 30 mins to filter out the sand. Gently take them out and rinse them, and they are ready to use. It's crazy to see how much sand ends up in the bottom of the cleaning bowl! Update: I made it again, but used fresh portabella mushrooms and they were excellent. It did turn the broth base a little brown, but was MUCH better than dehydrated mushrooms!

Banana Nut Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
I love this recipe because I always have everything on hand to make them. They come out a little dense, but they are a healthy, filling snack, and they do taste and smell lovely. I add a heaping handful of walnets, some cinnamon and a little vanilla when I make these. Thanks for the recipe!

Shrimp and Artichoke Linguine

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
I do love the fact that this recipe is easy and healthy. I will make it again, but it does need some adjustments. I've made this dish twice, and the first time I doubled the wine and lemon and it was way too lemony. The following time I followed to recipe exactly and it was a bit dry and needed a little more sauce. Next time I'll try adding marinated artichokes (as recommended before) and using a higher quality white wine. The fresh parsley on top is excellent and I do love that.

Clover's Shrimp and Basil

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
A simple tasty dish. I made it and served it over noodles. It was very simple and light. Nothing spectacular but a good little meal. I'd make this again and make some changes. It's a good base to a recipe.

Stir-Fried Shrimp with Snow Peas and Ginger

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
Super easy recipe to make! I followed the others suggestions and doubled the sauce, ginger, and garlic. I also added water chestnuts to it (but you can add nearly anything). You can also use black pepper instead of white (but you'll be able to see the flecks). I served it over brown rice. I'll def make this again.

Stuffed Chicken Valentino

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
I followed to recipe almost exactly, but I did add fresh asparagus as one review suggested. It was easy to make and was beautiful, but was lacking a little in taste. It absolutely needs a sauce of some sort. I will make this recipe again, but figure out a tasty tomato sauce for this (I don't generally eat alfredo sauce). Thanks for the recipe!

Flourless Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2011
My boyfriend is in love with this! I topped it with homemade raspberry sauce. I followed the directions perfectly and it turned out great. I used my stand mixer to incorporate the butter into the chocolate and worked fabulous.

Beaker's Vegetable Barley Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2009
This recipe is awesome! As suggested I used 3/4 cup barley, I instead used kidney beans, and I didn't have curry powder, so I tossed in a handful of fresh cilantro. It was perfect. This recipe is very versatile and I look forward to making it again!

Broccoli Beef I

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
I thought this recipe was decent. It was edible, but I won't be making this again. It was lacked flavor even with doubling the garlic, ginger, and sauce (even adding red pepper flakes).
