Serbian Ground Beef, Veggie, and Potato Bake

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2010
What a delicious meal!! We just prepared this for our family and parents, and everyone went back for seconds. The only change I would suggest is adding 2-3 cubed potatoes into the meat mixture--it really bulks it up and gives it some much needed starch. If I could give this 10 stars I would!!!

Banana Bread

What a great substitute for all the recipes with dairy. The only change I would make is adding a llittle more sugar. Thanks a bunch for a great recipe!!

Amish Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2010
This is a very flavorful macaroni salad recipe. I made it the night before a picnic ,and it was very creamy when it came time to eat. After one more day, it was even better after all the flavors "married." This is a keeper!

Fiesta Fry Pan Dinner

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2010
Easy go-to recipe. I was out of instant rice so I substituted quinoa. I also subbed 1/2 the zucchini with yellow squash. It was a hit with the family--my 3 year old son even named it stop light quinoa. I will definitely make it again!

Cinnamon Rolls II

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2010
I followed this recipe exactly and ended up with a sticky mess. I tried adding additional flour like other reviewers had suggested and it just got tougher and stickier. I will be looking for another cinnamon roll recipe after this disaster.

Mom's Favorite Meatloaf

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2010
The family really enjoyed this recipe. I made slight modifications to suit our tastes: 1 additional egg, 4 slices of toasted whole wheat bread instead of saltines, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp black pepper. It turned out great and everyone went back for seconds. Thanks for a great recipe!!

Addictive Pumpkin Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2010
I wouldn't exactly call these addictive, but they are pretty good. My biggest complaint is that it is almost impossible to get the muffins out of the tins after baking if you use all applesauce and no oil. The next time I make them, I plan to try 50% oil and 50% applesauce. I also think the sugar could be scaled back to 2 cups, because they are very sweet otherwise

Ethiopian Cabbage Dish

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2010
Very tasty side dish alongside a beef roast. Even my husband went back for seconds. My only complaint is that the potatoes were still tough after cooking an extra 10 minutes and it would have been a little bland if I hadn't doubled the spices.

Corned Beef and Cabbage

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2010
I followed the recipe exactly except that I put the beef on the bottom of the crock pot. I found it to be quite bland, and the veggies were overdone. I will significantly change this one if I make it again.

Chicken and Mushroom Chowder

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2010
My family really enjoyed this meal, and I am already looking forward to making it again. The only changes I made were reducing the mushrooms to half pound, increasing the rice to 2 cups, adding half a bag of frozen peas and substituting almond milk for regular milk. It was creamy and delicious and reminded me of chicken pot pie without the crust!! The only change I would make next time would be to increase the carrots to 2 or 3. 1 just didn't seem like enough.

Spiced Pumpkin Seeds

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2010
As the recipe is written, these seeds are a little bland in my opinion. After reading other reviews, the next time I make them, I will increase the seasonings to give the seeds a little punch.

The Best Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2010
Great recipe!! I got rave reviews from the family; this will definitely be our new recipe for meatballs, because when they're this easy to make, why would you buy those preservative-filled meatballs from the freezer section? The only changes I made were omitting veal and substituting more pork, one package of chopped spinach for the parsley and I was out of cheese, so I left that out too.

Made the recipe exactly as written and thought it was very tasty. I served it with refried beans and brown rice. It made a very substantial and healthy meal.

Great basic stew recipe. It has great flavor as is, and the only addition I made was to add a can of tomato paste.

Kaese Spaetzle

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2010
Great basic recipe for spaetzle. I followed the recipe exactly, and the only change I would make would be to reduce the cheese next time. It was a bit overpowering for me, and I am a cheese lover.

Thanksgiving Leftover Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2009
It was a little too bland for my taste to start off with, so I used milk and cream cheese instead of evaporated milk, chicken stock for water, added onion, parsley, rosemary and thyme and increased the cheese and pepper. The family loved it, so I will definitely make it again with the same changes.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2009
Great basic recipe. My only suggestion is to double the sauce like other reviewers have stated. It would have been very dry had I not doubled it. I got rave reviews from 4 grown men and my 2 1/2 year old!!

Smothered Beef Short Ribs

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
I followed the recipe to the "T" and found it to be just yummy!! I always find short ribs to be very fatty so I skimmed off the fat as they were cooking on the stove and that helped with the greasiness. It left an amazing gravy after cooking for 3 hours. Paired with mashed potatoes and rolls finished off the meal!

Popovers

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
These popovers were simple to make and paired nicely with smothered short ribs from this site!! I found them to taste a little eggy and dense so I may have over stirred a bit or let them sit too long before eating. I will definitely try them again!
