French Onion Soup Gratinee

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2013
This is not the fastest soup to make, but the recipe is simple and it is absolutely delicious. I recommend putting the soup bowls on a low oven rack for the last step so there is time to fully melt the cheese before it gets too browned on top.

Balsamic Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2012
The sweetness of the carmelized onions with just a little tart from the balsamic vinegar makes this a delicious dish. The brussel sprouts lovers thought this was fantastic. Those who were not huge fans of brussel sprouts in the first place were not as enthusiastic, so I don't know if this recipe (or any other?) would be enough to bring about conversions. I used fresh brussel sprouts for this and skipped the garlic powder as there were already 2 cloves of fresh garlic in the recipe.

Hazel's Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2012
This recipe is a huge hit for Thanksgiving. It makes a lot of cranberry sauce, so I would either cut the recipe in half, or even better, freeze some to be used for Christmas or in other recipes. I like my cranberry sauce a little more tart, so I only used 1 cup of sugar. Instead, I added a 1/2 cup or orange juice and zest from one orange. Yum!

Strawberries and Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2011
I used only 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup sour cream, 1 cup greek yogurt (regular kind). It was fantastic. I also made this the same way, but folded in a 1/2 pint of cream, whipped with some vanilla and a few tablespoons of powdered sugar. That version was a little fluffier, a touch sweeter. It was even better, but a little more work. Both versions were crowd pleasers. Served with whip cream, blueberries and strawberries, this was a perfect 4th of July dessert.

Milk Chocolate Peppermint Bark

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2011
I made three batches of this to put in my Christmas cookie gift boxes. *Everyone* raved about it. I used Ghiradelli milk chocolate and Hershey's white chocolate. Mine did not split between layers as some have described. I cooled the layers completely at 50 degrees (my semi-heated garage - outside was MN winter). This is so easy and quick, and popular! I am making this every year.

Swedish Tea Ring

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2011
I made this for book club (in honor of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). Everyone loved it. It is sweet and spicy with a little tang from the lemon glaze. It is perfect - not too sweet.
