Caper Chicken Cacciatore

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2015
2 thumbs up. We have a mushroom allergy so subbed in 2 green peppers. Also left out the canned soup, personal preference. Didn't miss it. 1/4 cup olive oil is a little heavy. We also browned the pepperoni. Yum. This is an easy recipe with lots of flavour for the effort. This is a keeper. Thanks for sharing JoAnn M. Jarrach.

Pasta e Fagioli ala Weeble

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2015
Fantastico! I've had this recipe in my rb since before it was even kitchen approved. I don't know why it took so long for me to make but it did not disappoint! I turned it into pasta e ceci because I had so many cans of chick peas in my pantry. This is an easy to prepare recipe with great flavours. Thanks weeble!

Honey Butter Tarts

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2015
Last time I made butter tarts not only was there sugar but also corn syrup. So I was happy to try these honey sweetened tarts. Honey was the predominant flavour but it was still buttery. One of those where you have a bite and say, "yup, that's a good tart but what's different?" I thought all butter tart batters were runny. This one was not so don't panic. I also just can't bring myself to eat raisins so I tried chopped walnuts instead. It was a good sub. Safe to say I'd make these again! Hubby gave them 4 stars, kids 4.5,I gave them a 5 and I win! Thanks KIM BOYLE!

Balsamic Pot Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2015
Hands down one of the best pot roasts I've ever made. Marinated overnight. Only had fresh mint so that's what I used. (8 whole leaves). Reached temp at 6 hours so we took it out of the roasting pan and wrapped it well in tin foil for an hour before we shredded it. It just fell apart. The juices have a fair amount of oil so if you want au jus you need to skim that fat! Balsamic is prominent but not overpowering. This is a fantastic recipe! Thanks DrObviousSo!

Stuffed Italian Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2015
Delizioso! My family enjoyed this one. I didn't have as much mozzarella as I thought so I had to sub in a little cheddar. Yum. I only used the 1/2 cup bread crumbs as in the recipe and I think it was the perfect amount. It turned out very moist however it was swimming in grease when it came out so I removed it from the loaf pan quickly. I liked using tomato sauce, thought it added a nice zip to the meatloaf. Thanks Lori!

Good Old Meat Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2015
Tasted good and was easily prepared. I followed the recipe exactly and found it to be too thick and dry. I will try it again but next time I will use far less flour, half the amount called for. Thanks for sharing Dan Poplawski.

Chicken Piccata with Artichoke Hearts

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2015
This was delish! We avoid flour where we can so the chicken was browned without the dredge. The sauce is awesome and the artichokes are a welcomed addition. Didn't quite use 1/4 cup capers cause I ran out. Maybe had 2 tablespoons worth. This one is a keeper! thanks JAMMINMARTIN

Sorry for only 3 stars. Many of the better reviews made changes to this recipe. I made it as is and didn't find it to our liking. If you're going to make this I would suggest following some of the other reviewers changes. Thanks jennifer263

Pico de Gallo with Cabbage (Mexican Coleslaw)

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2014
Nice change to traditional non-creamy coleslaw. I would have given 5 stars but we all found the lime too overpowering. I had to add a little agave to balance it out. Still a really nice slaw. Served with Mexican pulled pork from this site. Nice pair. Thanks mommy.

Kung Pao Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2014
Decent enough flavours. Curious as to why all of the ingredient measurements are in tsp or tbsp and the chili sauce is in ounces. That threw me off in the middle of my prep. I included a heaping tsp of sambal oelek only in fear of it being too hot. I could have added 3 or 4 tsp I think. We had it over paleo cauliflower rice from this site. Great combo. Thanks Arlena

Chocolate Mint Crinkle Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2014
The dough chilled over night and was very easy to work with. I got 50 cookies from this with a bake time of 13 minutes. The combo/ratio of chocolate to mint is perfect. I didn't think either flavour overpowered the other. They are definitely cake-y but they're still good, just an unexpected texture. They look pretty cool too!

Easy Roasted Broccoli

I always forget about roasting veggies so I'm happy that I saw this recipe. I used garlic flavoured olive oil and tossed on the baking sheet. Needed a little longer than 18 minutes. Thanks karenatlincoln!

German Spaetzle Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2014
Having never made spaetzle before I wasn't sure how the dough was supposed to be, except for the video. Mine looked nothing like the video. It got all stuck in the whisk so I added another 1/4 cup milk and it still didn't resemble what it did in the video. I used a ricer and tried to do what I've seen on tv, cut it off as I was squeezing it into the boiling water. It came out in big clumps. I thought for sure it would be a fail but I stirred it with a knife of all things and in the end it looked the way it should. It worked pretty well with the goulash I prepared. All that said, I think I'll stick with my roots and making pasta! Thanks for sharing MARBALET!

Hungarian Goulash I

First time ever making goulash and I must say that it does need the sour cream. I kept in on low for the afternoon and the beef was nice and tender. This is an easy recipe and quite tasty. Thanks ENVIRO2

Really glad I found this recipe. My family loved it. I used a big bunch of fresh spinach and I served it using a slotted spoon because it was pretty liquidy. I will make this again! Thanks for posting!

Food Processor Pie Crust

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2014
It's like a Christmas miracle! I love to bake but have been afraid of pastry since I started cooking years ago. Seems like you can do it or you can't. Well, I'm happy to report that my first pie crust was made with great success and I can do it! This recipe is so easy and must be a no-fail. Why isn't this recipe approved!? Thanks It's A New Day! This just opened up a new baking door for me! Yey!

Colcannon Bake

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2014
I was a little confused about the recipe calling for 3 potatoes? Maybe it turned out so dry because I used a couple more? 3 wouldn't have fed 8 people. At the end of the day, except for the ol' raw egg debate you could get away without even baking this. Suppose that would defeat the purpose of the name. Sorry, this just wasn't my favourite colcannon recipe. Glad I tried it though. Thanks Chardonnay Queen.

MMMMM... Brownies

I used whole wheat flour because that's what I had and I don't think it effected the outcome. This recipe was super easy. Teenagers gobbled them up. Thanks for sharing cicada77
