Little effort-Big reward. I used a spring form pan for easy removal and it was in the oven for 35 minutes. Dusted with icing sugar. This is a great one to make for company. So easy, super delish. Thx Shana Hillman

Hearty Hamburger Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2015
I can't imagine using water in a soup when you can enhance the flavour with broth, so I made a change there. I also don't ever use canned soups so I subbed that with a jar of home-made tomato sauce. I was feeding a crowd so I batched up times two. Worked out well. Also learned that pot barley works well in soup. I usually use pearl but pot barley was all I could find. Glad I found this recipe. Really nice on a cold day. Thanks SHARILEE.

Sausage and Fennel

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2015
I wish I could do half stars because this was a 4 1/2. Such an easy recipe. We used spicy sausage which worked great against the sweetness of the fennel. The olives added a nice salty element into the dish but I think they need to be very finely chopped and perhaps a whole cup is too overpowering. Either way this is a keeper. Great way to get some fennel into the rotation~such a delicious veg and so underused! Thanks for sharing Chris Denzer

Paleo Spicy Shrimp Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2015
Sorry, this was not our fave. It was more like boiled shrimp in lemon juice than a stir fry. Lemon was the only flavour that came through here. Served over cauliflower rice. Sriracha saved it a bit. Sorry it didn't work out for us but glad we tried it. Thanks Chris Denzer.

Pork Roast with the World's Best Rub

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2015
I felt bad for this recipe as the review before mine was 3 stars only. It was a great rub, that's for sure. I put the rub on early in the morning. My only issue with this recipe was the rub turned into a glaze and slid off the pork leaving one heck of a burned mess in my baking dish. I had enough rub for 2 pork roasts. Used one today and froze the other with the rub on. We didn't find it spicy at all,as the other reviewer did. This is a really good recipe! Glad we tried it. Thanks for sharing DADCOOKS.

Spicy Lime-Cilantro Marinated Flank Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2015
Excellent combination for a steak marinade. Very flavourful. I left out the honey and used avocado oil (personal preference to not use corn products). I used the steak in a fajita salad. Mmm.mmm. Thanks Ryan Nomura

Fabulous Roasted Cauliflower Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2015
Followed recipe exactly. Found that the garlic and shallots burned while being roasted. I would leave them whole next time or at very least just cut them in half. When it was ready I decided that it just needed a little something. Added some cayenne pepper and that seemed to do the trick. This was a nice soup on a cold day. Thank you TOZENUF.

Sonrisa's Butter Tart Squares

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2015
I was skeptical of the crust. I thought for sure it would be too dry as it doesn't seem to come together very well. It held up very well and sliced beautifully. It is however too thick in my opinion. The ratio of crust to butter tart batter was half and half. So the actual butter tart flavour doesn't really have a chance to shine as it is taken over by the crust. I also greased the cake pan and glad I did. Baking times were right on the money. Thanks for sharing your recipe Sonrisa

Beef and Cabbage Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2015
How good can beef and cabbage taste? Honestly? Well let me tell ya, this recipe made a believer out of me! Obviously I was skeptical but I followed the directions to a tee and had some faith-it's rated 5 stars after all. Now I know why. Won't make any changes when I make this again. Great recipe. Thanks Paul

Caper Chicken Cacciatore

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2015
2 thumbs up. We have a mushroom allergy so subbed in 2 green peppers. Also left out the canned soup, personal preference. Didn't miss it. 1/4 cup olive oil is a little heavy. We also browned the pepperoni. Yum. This is an easy recipe with lots of flavour for the effort. This is a keeper. Thanks for sharing JoAnn M. Jarrach.

Pasta e Fagioli ala Weeble

Fantastico! I've had this recipe in my rb since before it was even kitchen approved. I don't know why it took so long for me to make but it did not disappoint! I turned it into pasta e ceci because I had so many cans of chick peas in my pantry. This is an easy to prepare recipe with great flavours. Thanks weeble!

Honey Butter Tarts

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2015
Last time I made butter tarts not only was there sugar but also corn syrup. So I was happy to try these honey sweetened tarts. Honey was the predominant flavour but it was still buttery. One of those where you have a bite and say, "yup, that's a good tart but what's different?" I thought all butter tart batters were runny. This one was not so don't panic. I also just can't bring myself to eat raisins so I tried chopped walnuts instead. It was a good sub. Safe to say I'd make these again! Hubby gave them 4 stars, kids 4.5,I gave them a 5 and I win! Thanks KIM BOYLE!

Balsamic Pot Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2015
Hands down one of the best pot roasts I've ever made. Marinated overnight. Only had fresh mint so that's what I used. (8 whole leaves). Reached temp at 6 hours so we took it out of the roasting pan and wrapped it well in tin foil for an hour before we shredded it. It just fell apart. The juices have a fair amount of oil so if you want au jus you need to skim that fat! Balsamic is prominent but not overpowering. This is a fantastic recipe! Thanks DrObviousSo!

Stuffed Italian Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2015
Delizioso! My family enjoyed this one. I didn't have as much mozzarella as I thought so I had to sub in a little cheddar. Yum. I only used the 1/2 cup bread crumbs as in the recipe and I think it was the perfect amount. It turned out very moist however it was swimming in grease when it came out so I removed it from the loaf pan quickly. I liked using tomato sauce, thought it added a nice zip to the meatloaf. Thanks Lori!

Good Old Meat Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2015
Tasted good and was easily prepared. I followed the recipe exactly and found it to be too thick and dry. I will try it again but next time I will use far less flour, half the amount called for. Thanks for sharing Dan Poplawski.

Chicken Piccata with Artichoke Hearts

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2015
This was delish! We avoid flour where we can so the chicken was browned without the dredge. The sauce is awesome and the artichokes are a welcomed addition. Didn't quite use 1/4 cup capers cause I ran out. Maybe had 2 tablespoons worth. This one is a keeper! thanks JAMMINMARTIN

Pico de Gallo with Cabbage (Mexican Coleslaw)

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2014
Nice change to traditional non-creamy coleslaw. I would have given 5 stars but we all found the lime too overpowering. I had to add a little agave to balance it out. Still a really nice slaw. Served with Mexican pulled pork from this site. Nice pair. Thanks mommy.
