Creamy Cajun Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2012
I LOVE deviled eggs and have started making them regularly so it was time to add a kick and this recipe was it. Follow Martha Stewart's method for perfect hard-boiled eggs where you cover eggs with cool water by 1 inch in a saucepan and slowly bring water to a boil over medium heat. When the water has reached a boil, cover and remove from heat. Let sit 12 minutes. Transfer eggs to a colander; place under cool running water to stop the cooking. Eggs can be peeled immediately. Follow this recipe once and then use it as a launching board to make up your own deviled egg combinations.

Slow-Cooker Posole

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2011
We loved this spicy posole; next time I'll add more hominy and add cabbage & lime. This was a really great posole recipe that made good use of my slow cooker.

Chef's Steak Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2009
This steak sauce was an involved recipe that will serve itself again and again and is held in the fridge for future use. I appreciated the intricate flavors of this sauce and can't wait to use it again.

Larra's Baked Spiced Apples and Oranges

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2009
This was a surprising blend of flavors in our mouths and was yummy fresh out of the oven. If I decide to try this one again, I would omit the oranges as the texture is a bit funny and replace with more apples or maybe pears. The recipe didn't "re-warm" well.

Fancy-But-Easy Mac N' Cheese

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2010
I'm always on the prowl for comfort food recipes and this is definitely amongst the simplest recipes for what the final outcome yields. The cheddar cheese soup saves you from having to make a roux and aside from shredding cheese, (which I think I have an aversion to) this recipe is requires very little labor. Additionally, this recipe is a fantastic start for adding customized options such as a can of diced jalapenos, which I recommend! The perfect complement to bbq chicken & a crunchy, cool salad.

Caramelized Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2010
Use your meat thermometer to bake this chicken perfectly and the sauce will do the rest. Delicious and easy! Reviewers who modified this recipe for skinless, boneless chicken got it right ~ great job! I will definitely make this one again and again.

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

This was a fairly simple recipe to make and it turned out perfectly! The chicken was moist and the wine sauce was the perfect pairing. This is definitely a recipe that I'll make again.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2010
Wow! Unbelievable simple process for the end result. I had my doubts about using frozen chicken breasts but it really worked out. Don't use a cheap-o bbq sauce as this recipe is mostly sauce and quality counts. Served over mashed potatoes topped with sour cream & chives. Easy meal at the end of your day.

Apple Turnovers

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2010
I followed the recipe exactly and they turned out beautifully! The end result tasted much more complex than the simple ingredients and steps to the recipe. The filling yields more than the pastry sheets could hold and next time around I might reduce the filling a bit and only use three apples to avoid the waste.

Lasagna Alfredo Roll Ups

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2010
This is a pretty good & fast version of meatless, alfredo lasagna. This filling and hearty dish will serve as a basic start to ideas for adjustments to suit my family's preferences. It was worth trying just as the recipe directs to make decisions about changes for next time. I plan to try some of the chicken suggestions and possibly the use of both alfredo and some sort of red sauce.

Simple Whole Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
Truly amazing! The flavors "pop" and the chicken is both crispy (on the outside) and juicy (on the inside.) Be sure to use a thermometer to check your temperature as the exterior appearance of the chicken will make you believe the chicken is farther along than it really is. I took the suggestion of other recipe users and was generous with the spices and covered every square inch of the chicken. You will not be disappointed!

Apple Streusel Squares

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2011
I made this in 8" round pans and it turned out great. It was a hit at work and was pretty simple to put together (once I got all those apples peeled!) I also made this recipe with a tad more dry ingredients as a birthday cake for a friend which turned out perfect in a cheesecake tin

Simple & quick & delicious - watch the oven time though so you don't overcook your chops. Meat thermometers are perfect to help assess cook time if you have one.

Quick Gnocchi

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2010
Thanks for the simple recipe to add to the lineup. Mashed potato flakes are versatile & made this gnocchi recipe easy to manage. Next time I think I'd like to try to add some extra ingredients such as sun-dried tomatoes or maybe a cheese center.

Seven Layer Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2010
Holy indulgence! So rich, be sure to cut these yummy treats nice and small and pair with a glass of milk. I used a pre-made graham cracker pie crust to save time and fuss and it turned out extraordinarily well. I was even able to use a pizza cutter to slice my pieces.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2009
This was a yummy addition to a sunday afternoon bbq. Though everyone loved the cornbread, in the future, I'd definitely use a smaller pan to be able cut off fat squares of cornbread instead of wider, flatter pieces.
