Aw-some Cole Slaw

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2014
Easy and tasty. I think I might use a bit more lemon juice next time for a little more flavor and tang, but I loved that it wasn't a heavy overly-mayonnaised slaw.

Sweet and Tangy Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2014
I took the warning of the other reviewer and left out the sour cream, so this salad looked lovely and tasted pretty good.

Alannah's Chocolate Galaxy

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2014
This was very good. I just wasn't sure if it was supposed to be more of a pudding-like torte or if it was supposed to be actually cakey, because the outer part of mine turned out like a normal albeit very rich cake with a crumb and everything, but the middle was very gooey. I baked it for the indicated hour, so I'm not sure if I should have left it longer or if I overbaked it. :) Perhaps I underbaked it as I had trouble removing the pan without pulling the cake apart a little.

Thai Chicken Curry with Pineapple

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2014
I don't like coconut milk (and thus frequently don't care for Thai curries) but I used almond milk and loved this.

French Crepes

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2014
Easy, didn't require refrigerating the batter before cooking like my mom's recipe (which is good, but time-consuming!), and it worked really well with whole wheat flour. Thanks for the recipe!

Szechwan Shrimp

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2014
Unfortunately, my husband and I didn't like this much. It wasn't awful or anything, but we didn't care for the strong ketchup-y taste (and I even used less than called for).

Heavenly White Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2014
I thought this turned out beautifully. I had to adjust a bit, using 2 1/2 C all-purpose flour, and I used about 1 1/3 C milk since other reviews suggested more milk. And then I didn't have two sticks of butter so I used applesauce for 1/4C of butter. But otherwise I did as instructed, baked it in a Bundt pan for around 45 minutes, and it's moist and fluffy and delicious!

Whole Wheat Snickerdoodles I

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2014
I used whole wheat pastry flour, and these turned out fantastic. I don't think anyone would have guessed that these were 100% whole wheat cookies.

Cambodian Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2013
The soup is fantastic as written, except that I agree with another reviewer; 4 cups of rice would be far too much. 2 is plenty for the amount of soup. It's also really good with some veggies added in - I like adding carrots, red and green bell pepper, and sugar snap peas.

Seattle Cream Cheese Dogs

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2013
This was a really fun and tasty hot dog preparation, and not something I'd ever heard of or would have thought of on my own. Bravo to Seattle! I didn't do the onions exactly the same way; I had some leftover French onion soup that was really thick with onions, so I just pulled some strips of onion out of that and piled them on my (veggie) dog and (whole wheat) bun with the (lite) cream cheese and mustard, and it was great! Even though I made all kinds of nutritional swaps. :) This is a very accommodating style of dressing up hot dogs!

Disney's Ratatouille

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2013
Easy, healthy, and tasty! I did skip the cheese at the end because my husband doesn't like creamy-type cheeses, and I sprinkled some sliced mushrooms on top because I needed to use them up, but otherwise followed the recipe as written and it was excellent.

Carolina Style Low Carb Barbecue Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2013
Tasty and tangy - a great barbecue sauce! I'm from Virginia, so I'm used to the usual tomato barbecue sauces and I *adore* North Carolina vinegar sauces, but this was my first time trying a South Carolina mustard-based sauce. Loved it!

Chocolate Almond Pudding

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2013
Turned out great! I didn't think the almond extract overpowered it at all; added a great twist of flavor to the usual chocolate pudding.

Greek Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: May 27, 2013
This was good, but I think next time I would leave out the tomatoes and sprinkle the feta on top afterwards rather than stirring it in (the flavor got kind of lost among all the others). Quick and easy recipe that turned out pretty good, so thanks!

Accidental Fish

Reviewed: May 24, 2013
Very good, but then it's hard to go wrong with a lemon garlic butter sauce on fish. :) I would have liked more hot sauce, I think (my philosophy is, if you're going to add it, what's the point of just adding 2 drops!) Also, I didn't think that much butter was necessary; I used half and it was plenty. Very tasty recipe!

Inwood Hamburgers

Reviewed: May 8, 2013
Very tasty! Good flavor. I used ground chicken breast, and I love these recipes that call for adding chopped veggies to the meat because A) it provides a little extra nutrition B) it stretches out the meat so you get more burgers for cheaper and for less saturated fat - win-win! and C) it keeps the meat nice and moist while it cooks, making it less easy to dry out the meat if you tend to overcook meats like I do. :) Thanks for the recipe!

Terri's Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: May 8, 2013
This was good, but a bit too sweet for us. I guess it probably depends on your barbecue sauce. Ours was a mild sauce that was already on the sweet side, though not super-sweet. It didn't need the sugar, and I think I would use more mustard if I made this again. Good general recipe though, so thanks!

Chilled Russian Salad Dressing

Too much mayonnaise compared to the other ingredients, for my personal taste. But not bad overall!

Outrageous Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: May 8, 2013
These are pretty good. I think I would like more peanut butter flavor in mine, possibly, and DEFINITELY more oats. I love very oatmeal-y cookies. But these were tasty and easy to make and we liked them. Thanks for the recipe!
