Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
11-27-09 Editing last year's review to say I used frozen broccoli florets this year instead of green beans and WOW! I think it's better! I doubled the recipe but didn't want it to be too sour creamy so I used 1 cup sour cream and half a block of cream cheese! I also stirred in some half and half so it wouldn't be a thick gluey mess. There isn't a single bit left. The casserole dish was practically licked clean! The flavor is incredible! Last years review: This was delicious! The only subsitution I made was I used frozen green beans instead of canned. I also doubled the recipe.

Cheesy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
Very good! I doubled the recipe but only had 1 can of creamed corn and it still worked wonderfully! I also used frozen corn instead of canned. I didn't have enough sour cream when I doubled it so I used cream cheese instead and it was sooo delicious! Everyone loved it!

Yummy Sweet Potato Casserole

This was devine!!!!!!!!!!! I used canned sweet potates so when I mashed them I left out the white sugar. Everyone really loved it! I will make this again.

Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2009
I make this all the time! I think my recipe actually calls it Death by Chocolate. It's so easy to make. In the past if I've been out of chocolate pudding, I've substituted all sorts of flavors with excellent results.

Fresh Tomato Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2009
This was very good. I also added some grated Swiss cheese. I did saute the onions and precook the pie crust for 10 mins first as recommended by other reviewers. Instead of slicing, I chopped the tomatoes and seeded them and let them drain for a bit. I topped it with more swiss cheese. Delicious!

Chicken Noodle Casserole I

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
I made it as it and it was delicious! Reminds me of my mothers! Next time I think I will add some parm cheese to it and make a white sauce instead of using canned soup.

Easy Pie Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
This was wonderful and easy! I used it as a top to an apple pie! I mixed the ingredients in a bowl and then rolled it on the counter and cut strips to make a lattice top for an apple pie! It was flaky and tender! Very good!

Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
Fantastic! So flavorful and rich! I doubled because I have a lot of mouths to feed. I also added a little bit more milk, because traditionally, we like our pancake batter a little runnier. Also added nutmeg because I only had a tiny bit of ginger left. DELICIOUS!!!!

Kettle Corn

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
Made it exactly as written and WOW it is fantastic! I also follow the 3 kernel rule (heat oil over medium heat and add 3 kernels. When the 3 kernels pop, the oil is ready). I always make stove top popcorn but usually I make it spicy. This was such a nice, sweet treat and I will be making it again! Thank you for a great recipe!!

Banana Coconut Loaf

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2011
Outstanding! I substituted nonfat plain yogurt for some of the butter because I doubled the recipe and didn't have enough butter. So moist! Oh and I didn't have cherries so I left that out.

Microwave Peanut Brittle

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2011
Very easy and very tasty! My only problem was getting it to spread on my cookie sheet. I followed one reviewer's suggestion and heated up my cookie sheet to ease in the spreading but it didn't seem to help. Will definitely try it again though! DELISH!

I've made many an alfredo sauce in my lifetime and this is the VERY BEST! OUTSTANDING! The key is cooking it slowly and baby it a little. It takes time but it is so worth it!

A Plus Fair Corn Dogs

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2012
Delicious! Using all the tricks in the reviews, coating the dogs with corn starch first, putting the batter in a tall glass or mason jar and dipping the dogs in that and then swirling.. but I did have trouble at first with the batter fanning out in the hot oil until I read another review that said to "The last trick is...(and you have to work sort of fast...) When you take the corndog out of the batter and put it in the hot grease, hold it upright, put it about 2 inches down in the grease and hold it about 3 seconds, then carefully drop it in the grease." That tip kept the batter from fanning out in the hot oil! We will make these again!!
