Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2012
Really easy and really yummy. I cut down on the onion a little because I didn't have enough, but it was still good. I used Italian seasoning salt instead of Italian seasoning, and I found it to be salty, so I'll stick with unsalted seasoning next time.

Pumpkin Whoopie Pies

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2012
These are moist and delicious. If you're not a huge fan of the spices, I'd cut down the amount of cloves that you use and maybe reduce the ginger slightly as well. If you like a lot of filling, I'd make 1 1/2 - 2 of the recipe for the filling. I got about 20-22 whoopie pies (40-44 cookies) out of it (some were small), and I had just enough filling for them--some had only a very thin layer. Otherwise, they were fun to make and very tasty.

Flavorful Flounder

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2012
So easy to make and delicious! I have made this recipe with tilapia, basa, and flounder, and it has come out excellent every time. Last time I did not have any green onions and used Italian seasoned breadcrumbs instead of parmesan, and it came out just as good, if not better. I have also tried it with about 1/2 - 3/4 tsp of lemon pepper and it gave it a nice flavor. This will be my go-to fish filet recipe, and it's somewhat healthier than frying. Last time I also didn't want to turn on the grill since it was cold out, so we heated the oven to 350 and baked for about 8 minutes and put it in the broiler on high for about 4 minutes. My mouth is watering just thinking about how good this is!

Spicy Refrigerator Dill Pickles

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2012
Pretty easy to make and tasty. I would add slightly more garlic and a little more water to the mix. They were a little heavy on the vinegar for my taste. They lasted a long time as well and were better after the first time that we had them. Not bad for my first time making pickles!

Creamy Chipotle Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2012
I took the advice of some other reviewers and whisked all ingredients together (except the chicken) in a bowl and poured it over the chicken in the slow cooker and didn't have a lumping problem. I also added some thinly slices onions, peppers, jalapenos and a packet of sazon to give it some color, flavor and a little kick. There's a lot of sauce, which goes great with rice. It was really easy to make and pretty good if you're looking for a nice chipotle flavor.

Penne with Spicy Vodka Tomato Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2011
This wasn't really a great penne vodka recipe. It was good if you're looking for a creamy, spicy sausage gravy, but it didn't make the cut for me in terms of penne vodka.

Chocolate Hazelnut Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2011
This was really yummy. The only change that I would make is to add at least 2-3 tablespoons of milk, because the consistency is really thick and slowed my beaters down! The milk smooths it out and makes for a creamy, delicious frosting.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough + Cupcake = The BEST Cupcake. Ever.

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2011
These were really yummy and pretty easy to make. I used my own cookie dough recipe for the center and froze them for about 4 hours and they came out perfect. I would definitely recommend not cooking much more than the recommended time because any longer and I think the dough would have started to cook through more. I made them with the chocolate hazelnut frosting recipe on allrecipes and they were a big hit. Thanks for this recipe!

Sauteed Apples

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2011
These were delicious! I made them to accompany pumpkin waffles and the pairing of the flavors was great. It makes a nice sauce and the apples come out tender and delicious. They're sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. We have some leftovers, so I think I may try them either in a pie crust or as an apple crisp-- it seems like a great dessert filling!

Brunch Enchiladas

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2011
These were a huge hit at brunch! Instead of ham, I added black beans and corn to make them vegetarian friendly. They were so delicious and went quickly. I was nervous about the flavor since there aren't a lot of seasonings in it, but they have a lot of flavor and the texture is great. And they are super easy. Thanks so much for this recipe, I know I'll be using this one again!

Donut Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2011
These were ok. I thought that the nutmeg was a little overwhelming (although I do not like nutmeg, so that may just be my preference). They also came out a little dry. I would recommend cooking them for slightly less time. I also made a glaze for them instead of coating in butter and sugar because I didn't like the idea of soaking them in butter. Not bad, but I would make a few tweaks

Drunken Collard Greens

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2011
Yum, yum, yum! This recipe was amazing. The only changes I made were using salt pork (based on another review) instead of the pork chop and eliminating the bacon and using pre-made bacon pieces. I fried a chunk of the the fat from the salt pork instead of using the bacon and then fried the onions and salt pork pieces in the grease (and tossed the extra fat after frying). I also added a generous amount of hot sauce (Texas Pete!) to give it more of a kick. I will definitely be making this again.

Asian Stir Fry Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2011
This was really good stir fry sauce, but like others, I would recommend using less cornstarch because it came out very thick

Citrus Swordfish With Citrus Salsa

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2011
I made the salsa in this recipe and used it with the E-Z Marinated Swordfish, and it was excellent. I can't speak to the marinade of this swordfish recipe, but the salsa was very refreshing and had a nice blend. You may want to kick the heat up a little bit for some more balance, but overall it was great and I would definitely make it again.

Quick Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2011
Really simple, really quick, and really tasty. I would recommend seasoning the cutlets with salt and pepper before sauteing them or add salt and pepper when you add the other ingredients in. Without the seasoning, it may be slightly bland. I also added in sliced mushrooms and onion. It makes a lot of sauce, so it goes great on top of angel hair or spaghetti.

Corn and Black Bean Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2011
This is so delicious! We ate it on its own as a side to dinner and then I used the leftovers the next day in a taco salad. So simple, but the flavors are great and it gets better the more it sits. The only changes I made were adding in a tomato and a small red onion (both diced). This will be a new staple in our household!

Faye's Pulled Barbecue Pork

Reviewed: May 7, 2011
I used the seasoning from this recipe and combined it with the cooking method from the slow cooker pulled pork recipe on this website. Instead of water, use root beer (for 6 lb. roast, use about 3 12 oz cans or 1 liter) and cooked it in the slow cooker. It was so tender and delicious!

Honey Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
These were so yummy and a great way to sneak fiber and nutrients into your morning! I had dried apricots on hand, so I used those instead of raisins. I cut it to 1 c of apricots and used 1 c of shredded carrots (based on an earlier review). Instead of pineapple juice, I used the peach mango V8 splash juice. With all of this, they were a little bit sweet for my taste, so if you don't like sweet, I would recommend using slightly less honey (you can definitely taste the honey). But they were a pretty big hit with my family!

Coquito

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2010
This was absolutely delicious! I added a 1/2 cup of spiced rum (Captain Morgan) and it brought out the cinnamon and clove flavors. The store was out of cream of coconut, so I used coconut milk instead and used slightly less water and it turned out great! Thanks for this excellent recipe!

E-Z Marinated Swordfish

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2009
This was absolutely delicious! The swordfish was tender and tasted great grilled. I used the tip on using white wine instead of white vinegar and didn't have cayenne pepper so I added paprika and used a little extra hot sauce (Texas Pete) and it had a nice, but subtle kick. I served it with a mango salsa that really complimented the flavors in the marinade. Yummy!!!
