Quiche

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2014
So easy and delicious! I used sliced swiss bc that's all I had. Very good! Followed other reviews re: put the shell in the oven and then pour on the egg mixture. Brilliant. Did not boil over as some have said. Perfectly done in 60 minutes. Thanks!

Southern BBQ Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2014
This was my first attempt at BBQ chicken legs. It was easy and the results were good. My only thing, and this is not the recipes' fault, is that it took a lot longer than 45 minutes to get the legs up to 165 degrees. Now that I've done it once, I know I need to turn my grill up a bit higher next time. That's not why 4 stars though; it was good, but I usually give 5 stars to recipes that absolutely amaze me. This was a good primer on BBQ legs, and I'll probably do it again :). Thanks!

Mexican Style Corn

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2014
This was fun and good. Like others, I used real butter and mixed it along w/ the parmesean and mayo and chili powder and a bit of sea salt. After boiling, I rolled each ear in it, and put it on the grill for a couple of minutes. I'm a bit confused about that part, bc I found this recipe in the Allrecipes magazine, and it's called Grilled Corn in one section and Mexican-Style corn in another...and the recipe never directs you to put the corn on the grill. Other reviewers mentioned grilling at the end though, so I did since I had it on anyway. We squirted lime juice on just before eating.

Delicious Avocado Egg Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2014
I really liked this. Simple, different, and good. I don't like celery, so I subbed red bell pepper instead. Also reduced mustard to 1 tsp. and salt and pepper to taste (less than called for). One tsp. of garlic powder was a bit much; will reduce next time.

Dry Onion Soup Mix

Awesome - I quadrupled this recipe and keep it on hand for when I need it. I love not having to use the packaged junk w/ additives, etc. anymore!

Baked Asian-Style Honey Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2014
This was easy and delicious. Everyone in my family loved it, and it's rare we all agree on a food. Our family of 5 ate the whole chicken! I followed the recipe, but I did triple the sauce as suggested by others. I put 2/3 of it on the chicken to marinade/bake, and saved 1/3 and heated it up to serve over the chicken. It was a lot; I think doubling it would have been sufficient. Served with Jasmine rice (also great w/ this sauce).

Fruit Pizza by Tiina

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2013
This was great! I did add 1/2 sugar and 2 tsp. vanilla to the topping...I like things sweet and it was too bland w/o. That's why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. I also didn't have any lemon juice, so I used lime. I used blueberries, grapes, kiwi and raspberries. Very delicious!

Seared Ahi Tuna Steaks

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2013
This was great from a preparation and cooking method standpoint. I've had awesome ahi tuna steaks at restaurants, and this was pretty good. It's best served rare, as this method will produce. I've also had it cooked beyond rare, and it is just not as good...it dries out easily. I did grind my kosher salt with a mortar and pestle so there were not big chunks. Some have complained about the salt...I thought it was fine. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because from a "final product" perspective, I'd like some sort of sauce to go with it.

Cinnamon Bread I

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2013
This was excellent and easy. Mixed wet and dry ingredients separately, then stirred together just until blended (as you should for any quick bread). I doubled it and put 1/2 in a stoneware loaf pan and 1/2 in a bunt pan. For both I put 1/2 the topping in the middle of the batter and 1/2 on top. (I did NOT double the topping as many have suggested, though I did use brown instead of white sugar. It was plenty cinnamony and sweet.) I didn't even have butter or margarine, so I used a honey walnut cream cheese spread in the topping. 50 minutes for the bunt, 60 for the stoneware. I happened to be eating a whipped strawberry yogurt for breakfast when I ate this bread...spread it on top of my slice and it was an awesome combo!
