Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2010
Thank you, Mrs. Sigg! Snickerdoodles are my husband's favorite cookie, but I never made them before now. This recipe was so easy and turned out perfect. I didn't have shortening so I used all butter; otherwise followed directions exactly.

Apple Crisp III

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
This was delicious. I stuck to the recipe exactly, except that I kept it in the oven about 10 minutes longer to brown the top. The filling was like applesauce & I wondered if that was b/c of the water, the extra time or the type of apples (I used Granny Smith.) I liked that the apples weren't mixed w/ sugar before cooking - nice and tart. The topping was decadent w/ all the butter and sugar. Next time I'll cut back on both just to lighten it, but it was delicious.

Lemon Custard Pudding Cake

Reviewed: May 24, 2010
We loved this unusual cake. I followed the recipe exactly, but next time I'll lower the sugar and increase the lemon. I think that's just personal preference. The consistency was so good...pudding on the bottom and fluffy cake on the top. Another change I'll make next time is that I'll cover the pan because it did get quite brown on top. I will make this again!

Giant Spice Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2009
I try to keep a box of spice cake mix in the pantry to make these cookies in a pinch. They can be made quickly. I make a bunch of small cookies instead of 10 giant ones. They disappear quickly!

Scalloped Potatoes and Onions

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2009
This was easy and delicious. I'll be making these potatoes often. Followed ingredients exactly, but I accidentally set the oven temp. too high. I'm glad I checked on them because they were done in 45 min. I'll try the correct temp./time next time. I'm also going to try this in the slow cooker.

Linda's Lasagna

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2009
I still make and love this recipe. I grew up w/ only ricotta in lasagna, so this was different. The cottage cheese is great. I've been making this recipe for about a year now and have not felt the need to look any further for a good lasagna. The sauce in this lasagna has become my standard recipe for any pasta.

Cocktail Meatballs

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2008
Chili sauce is usually found next to ketchup. Heinz is the only brand I've seen or used. It's in a round glass bottle. It's basically ketchup with a little extra spice, but definitely not anything like tabasco or hot sauce. If you had to substitute, you could use ketchup with extra onion and garlic added. Hope this helps!
