Kashmiri-Style Kidney Beans with Turnips

I didn't have Kashmiri garam masala on hand, never even heard of it, perhaps it was the one ingredient that would have made it a 5 star recipe for me. All the spices and textures came together quite well. If we keep eating like this, I'll have to change my screen name to to 4mynotsochubbyhubby! Very good eatin'. I will make this recipe again.

Chinese-Style Broccoli Salad

I used a bag of raw broccoli slaw and cut the sesame oil in half. Used one tablespoon agave nectar instead of sugar and added 2 tablespoons roasted sesame seeds, 1/4 cup raisins, and some slivered almonds. Just mix the dressing with a wire whisk and pour over all ingredients let all ingredients marinade for an hour or two and enjoy. So yummy, I ate the whole salad by myself!

Sweet Pumpkin Seeds

I put these in the oven while guests were arriving at my son's birthday party. The aroma of cinnamon filled the house and they were a hit with the guests. I had about four cups of pumpkin seeds that were soaking in salt water overnight. I dried them in the oven for about 15 minutes at 350 degrees and then added the sugar and cinnamon and turned them every 10 minutes because of the moisture in the soaked seeds. They were nice and crunchy with a sweet and salty taste. I started eating them and couldn't stop. YUMMY!

Ground Beef Lo Mein

Quick and delicious!! I used a can of turkey gravy instead of the beef gravy. I added 2 Tbsp of Bragg Liquid Aminos (better for you than soy sauce) 1 Tbsp Worcestershire and 1tsp ground ginger. My chubby hubby is borderline diabetic and I use artichoke pasta, it has a much lower glycemic index than regular pasta without sacrificing flavor or texture.

Italian Green Bean Chicken

This is a great heart healthy recipe. It didn't leave you feeling bogged down and the taste was surprisingly wonderful. I steamed fresh green beans while browning the chicken. I didn't have fresh basil, so I added one teaspoon dry basil. I served it over rice spaghetti and sprinkled a little parmesean cheese for a finishing touch. My 20 and 23 year old sons loved it and hubby might not be so chubby if he continues to eat like this.

Easy Pork and Sauerkraut

I never really liked pork and sauerkraut when I was growing up, but this recipe is very tasty. I made a double batch in my crock pot for a church fellowship meal. Everybody really enjoyed it. I will definitely make this one again.
