Hong Kong Sweet and Sour Pork

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2014
This was my second time preparing this dish. It is AMAZING! I add diced sweet pickles and maraschino cherries for both colour and sweetness. I also poured about 1/4 cup of the pineapple juice into the sauce. Used cayenne flakes instead of actual peppers. I served it with coconut rice. Very nice meal!

Tomato Soup I

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2011
Great recipe. I substituted the cream with 2% milk; just heated it in a saucepan before stirring it into the soup.

Key Lime Pie I

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2010
This was a nice key lime pie. It wasn't stiff or jelly-like as some Key-lime pies are, so I enjoyed it. I did find that the lime flavour was not as strong as I would have liked. Perhaps in the future I'll add some grated lime to the pie. Great recipe!

Key Lime Pie VII

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2010
Not my favorite by far. I think the sour cream is too strong a flavor for the pie. It's a bit too thick and just not that great.

Marinade for Steak I

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2010
This was an EXCELLENT marinade. I substituted red wine for the vinegar and added a bit more (perhaps up to 1/2 cup). I also added some fresh rosemary springs from my garden. The steaks were so tender and succulent!

Annette's Great Ham Glaze

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2010
The molassas completely overpowered the glaze and basically ruined it. I would NOT recommend this glaze at all!

Original Nestle® Toll House® Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
This turned out excellent! They look like the originals, and taste just as good. It didn't make as many as it said, but I like larger cookies.

Tiramisu

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
This turned out EXCELLENT! My only comment is that the number of ladyfingers is not enough for the 9 X 13 pan. I used well over 30. Increase the coffee to accommodate this. I used my espresso machine and made two double shots of decaf. The dessert wasn't soupy at all; that reviewer must not have let it set. It was truly the best tiramisu I've had, and I have eaten tiramisu in some excellent Italian restaurants. Trust this recipe - it will not fail you!

Triple the Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
Excellent. I added the traditional spices; cinnamon and cloves. I used my onion chopper to chop the crystallized ginger; it worked great. The bake time is not nearly long enough; I tried 20 minutes with two trays in the oven. I like my cookies crispy.

Spicy Sweet Potato and Coconut Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
This soup was amazing! I didn't add the sesame oil; but I'll try that the next time. I agree with the other reviewer; add some crusty bread to serve with the soup. This can be a meal with bread and a salad. DELICIOUS!

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2009
All I can say is WOW! I am NOT a Banana bread fan, but this is not your typical banana bread! I did make changes as follows: I halved the recipe as I had only 2 ripe bananas, so 1/4 cup butter, just under a full cup of sugar, and two eggs. 8 oz of 5% MF Sour cream. As a treat, I added about 1/3 cup of Hershey's Special dark chocolate chips. I did the crumble top that was mentioned in another review (butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and walnuts). This made exactly two 4 x 7 loaves. I baked at 325, and they were done in an hour. They are PERFECT! Not dense; not cakey, just right! Try it; you'll really love it!
