I'm currently a graduate student, working on a PhD in mathematics. My boyfriend and I love to cook in our (copious) free time. We're quickly becoming masters of eating-well-and-cheap. Wines usually accompany our favorite meals, and in our old age we're becoming wine snobs.
Besides cooking and math, I love music, literature, trivia, and spending time with my dog (who IS the cutest creature alive).

My cooking triumphs
(1) I can bake a perfect New York style cheesecake. Crust and all.
(2) I have discovered if you take a Paula Deen recipe and cut the butter either in half or completely out, it's fantastic. The best proof of this is my pecan-crusted snapper.
My cooking tragedies
It took a while to master the cheese-cake. I also have learned from many painful mistakes to take it easy on fennel. Last, cantaloupe ice cream does not work.
