I guess I'm just a "spring-chicken" as my grandmother would say, but I've been around the kitchen for a while. I've been in school the last couple of years, and many student living houses do not have the greatest of appliances to use. Now that I finally have my own house, I'm super excited about getting back into the groove of cooking again.
My favorite things to cook
I love to use a lot of chicken and vegetables. I think my favorite kitchen gadget is my slow cooker. With just my better half and myself, a full out meal is much too much for the two of us. In a slow cooker, I can create healthy meals for just us with hardly any cleanup at all.
I also enjoy baking cookies and pies...hence the reason for all my other meals being healthy! :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always remember being in the kitchen with my grandmother while she was baking bread, cookies, and pies. She always had something in the oven. I guess that's where I get my love of cooking from!
My cooking triumphs
I suppose my greatest feat is advancing in my cooking skills. I have moved up from beans and rice into a more advance style of cooking. It makes me feel good to know that I can almost put a good Italian restaurant to shame by my own cooking!
My cooking tragedies
Well....it's always my job to bake pies at Thanksgivin and Christmas. Recently, my pies took a turn for the worse. The worst part...my fiance smarted off about my pie crusts and he almost took a ball of dough to the face. Good thing he has quick reflexes!
