I have been cooking for as long as I can remember. I am Mexican and Sicilian and my Grandmother taught me everything she knew. My Mexican and Sicilian Aunts also taught me how to cook. I make tamales year round for sale. After learning how to make tamales about 30 years ago, someone asked me if I had ever thought about selling them. So that is what I am doing now. I have had my home based business for about a year and trying to get that off the ground. I love to cook and enjoy cooking for my family and friends. I entertain as often as I can.
My favorite things to cook
Tamales, Pozole, Albondigas, sopes and tacos. Also spagetti, Lasagna as well as make my own pasta. Baking is year round, but like most the holidays is non stop baking. Biscotti Regina, Mexican Wedding cookies as everyone calls them, but my grandmother had another name for them. Panatone, Flan, cream puffs and I also started decorating cakes when I was a teenager. I assisted my Aunt who would make wedding, birthday and party cakes. I have so many other cooking experiences but I don't have time or room to mention them.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I mentions them in the about me section
My cooking tragedies
My most memorable cooking tragedy was when I was about 14 years old. I loved to bake and took home economics. I guess they don't offer that anymore (they should, these young people don't know how to cook, let alone measure anything). Anyway, I wanted to bake a cake for my uncle and the frosting called for cream of tarter. Well I guess I over did it and the frosting turned out like cement. There have also been other cooking challenges, but they all seemed to work themselves out.
