About this Cook
From St. Louis, Missouri, Age 48 going on 49. My mom got me started cooking as soon as I was able to reach the stove. I still enjoy cooking and backing today. It doesn't bother me to use other's receipes because it's a good wake to make thing excitingly differenct which is where the joy comes from. I get tired of the same old thing.
My favorite things to cook
I love a variety of chicken dishs, stews and soups, chilis, roasts, turkey, corned beef and cabbage, fish and seafood, italian foods, slow cooker foods, BBQ. Then baking, casseroles, quiches, cakes, pies, etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite family dishes are my mom's fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, roasts, turkey, pies and cakes. Mom always cooks for the holidays and generally starts several weeks in advance. The smell of the kitchen around the holidays was like a gift to everyone she invited.
My cooking triumphs
Well, I think I cook pretty good most of the time. Some of my favorite dishes that I like are Eggs Benedicts, perfect omlettes, baking cakes and pies, stews and chili to die for. I love to make homemade chicken pot pie using the receipe on the Bisquick box (mmmmm). Easy and tasty. I find using the right presentation dish to serve your food in, is especially important.
My cooking tragedies
Candy. I love fudge and tried several, can make a few but my mom has better luck with candy. She is sending me some for this Christmas! Homemade fudge, cookies, etc.

Simple Cauliflower Soup
I've made cauliflower soup in the past but decided to try this easy recipe instead. It was so VERY bland. I added country seasonings, and a package of Hollendaise sause thinking it would make it creamer and more cheesier (rather than adding about 8-10 American slices of cheese)... still didn't work. So I went with 1/2 package of onion soup mix and that made it have more flavor but I still didn't have the experience I was searching for. I'd suggest skipping this receipe and trying something bolder. Cauliflower and potatoes, even with the chicken broth and other ingredients didn't cut it for me. Sorry.
