About this Cook
I'm a mother of three and a wife to a Chef's apprentice. I am currently in my first semester of Chef training, and will be finished by about April 2011. My hubby and I have aspirations to own our own catering business and restuarant.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking just about everything, but love baking the best. Anything using puff pastry, or phylo pastry is my most favourite.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love cooking up the Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner...I love cooking Colcannon on Halloween...I love the Easter Ham...and Olibollen for New Years!!!
My cooking triumphs
I make a heavenly Hollandaise sauce...why? Because I can!
My cooking tragedies
I have a tragedy usually when I try to bake tired...wrongly written recipes and me tired usually do not mix!

Aunt Mary's Chocolate Cake
I don't know how anyone else got this recipe to work, but basic bakeshop principles show this recipe is off...aside from the fact there is not enough chocolate...this is why you do not bake when extremely miss big things. I now have a huge mess in my oven to clean. Thank goodness I have a cake mix in the cupboard for emergencies.

Creamy Cheesecake
I love this recipe, it was so easy and quick, and my family loved it! I omitted the lemon zest, only because I had no lemons, and used a small amount of lemon extract in it's place. I also will anilla sugar instead of regular sugar if I happen to be short on Vanilla...I also on one occaison used chocolate cream cheese...just yumm!

Potato Pancakes I
I followed the recipe right up to the oil. I only used about 4 tablespoons of oil to start and just added a little bit more half way through. The first pancake I made was a little greasy, but I know if I had left it longer it would have been fine. My hubby who is German loved them soo much.
